AbstractAbstract
[en] Paper discusses tests of capsules for uniform irradiation of materials. To ensure high accuracy of irradiation temperature, neutron fluence and neutron spectrum the capsule interior space to house a material specimen is placed in a stainless steel cylinder and may rotate reversibly. The required temperature is reached due to a multiple-stage heater and a system combining control of temperature and vacuum. According to test results, the chamber deign ensures the required irradiation conditions

Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] Si+ and Ar+ ion implantation and rapid thermal annealing were investigated by double-crystal rocking curve analysis using a five-reflection beam conditioner. Theoretical simulation using x-ray dynamical diffraction theory enabled detailed strain-depth profiles to be calculated. Observation of diffuse scattering in the rocking-curve tails also allowed qualitative assessment of defect growth on annealing. It was found that, for implant doses of 1013 and 1014 atoms cm-2 at 100 keV, the strain was annealed out at 1100oC. However, doses of 1015 atoms cm-2 or greater resulted in the growth of interstitial-type defects on annealing. Double Si+ implantation (2 x 1015, 150 keV + 2 x 1015, 50 keV) and annealing at 1100oC produced a strained, defective layer well below the surface at 0.3 μm depth. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The Hyogo beamline has been constructed as the first contract beamline at SPring-8. It has three experimental hutches and their corresponding three monochromators. Two upstream transparent monochromators enable us to perform three experiments for different purposes simultaneously. Employing a figure-8 undulator, horizontally or vertically polarized X-rays can be obtained in a wide energy range. Rocking curves of the monochromators were almost identical to theoretical ones

AbstractAbstract
[en] To study the similarity law in the flow of pump sump, especially on the critical submergence for both air entraining vortex and submerged vortex, three model pump sumps are constructed with geometrical similarity. Changing the flow rate and water height, the condition when sump vortex occurs is studied in each model. On the air entraining vortex, there are two critical lines of submergence, one is in proportional to the flow rate or velocity at bell inlet, the other is almost independent from flow rate. The former may be the effect of Froude number, but the later is not clear. On the submerged vortex, the line is not clear in the smallest model. Comparing the coefficients of above lines, the kinetic similarity is got at the same velocity condition, not Froude number similarityor Reynolds number similarity.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Measurements of ion and electron temperatures on REPUTE-1 ultra-low q (ULQ) and reversed field pinch (RFP) plasmas have revealed that the ion temperature is higher than the electron temperature and that the impurity ion temperature exceeds the hydrogen ion temperature. In ULQ plasmas the impurity ion temperature is correlated with the amplitude of the magnetic field fluctuations observed outside the plasma. A model ion heating by fluctuations is found to explain the experimental results. (author). 31 refs, 17 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The setup conditions for a very low q (surface safety factor less than 2) tokamak have been studied. For the startup of a very low q discharge, the rate of rise of the current should be higher than a limiting value; this value is a function of the plasma density and is almost independent of the strength of the toroidal magnetic field. Because of the relatively high ramping rate of the current, the distribution of the safety factor assumes a hollow profile during the startup phase. (author). Letter-to-the-editor. 7 refs, 10 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] It has been reported that the oxygen ion temperature was higher than the electron temperature. In this paper, the impurity ion, proton and electron temperatures on a reversed field pinch (RFP) and a ultra-low-q (ULQ) plasmas in REPUTE-1 are presented. REPUTE-1 is a torus device with a resistive shell made of SUS304 of 5 mm thickness. Main parameters are R/a = 0.82 m/0.22 m and Ip>0.4 MA

AbstractAbstract
[en] Using highly parallel X-ray microbeam of 9 μmx9 μm size and 1.8 arcsec angler divergence obtained by means of successive asymmetric reflections, measurements of the rocking curves of small electric devices was performed. The strain in a local region of LEDs under current operation was investigated. While changing the current, the deviation of the lattice constant around the surface was clearly observed

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have developed an X-ray microbeam with a small angular divergence by adopting X-ray optics with successive use of asymmetric Bragg reflection from silicon crystals for the both polarizations of the synchrotron X-rays. The microbeam actually obtained is several microns in size and possesses an angular divergence of less than 2 arcsec which enables us to measure the strain of 10-5-10-6. By scanning the sample against the microbeam, distribution of the minute local strain in various regions of semiconductor crystals for electronic devices, e.g., the strain around the SiO2/Si film edge in silicon devices, the strain in an InGaAsP/InP stripe laser were measured

AbstractAbstract
[en] Different interfacial structures are found for Yb/GaAs(001) contacts with different Yb thicknesses, namely 3 and 20 A, by grazing-incidence x-ray diffraction with the use of synchrotron radiation. Different Schottky-barrier height values are also found for these samples. It is concluded that the metal-semiconductor contact, accompanied by reaction and diffusion, is homogeneous in the vicinity of the interface and that the Schottky-barrier height is not finally determined at the initial stage of interface formation for this system
