AbstractAbstract
[en] The spin-dependent CPP (current perpendicular to plane) transport properties in semiconductive-oxide(MOx)/ferromagnet multilayers consisting of CoPt/Co/MOx/Co/MOx/Co/CoPt, where M=Ti, Sn, were investigated by magneto-transport measurement. The XRD patterns reveal that the structures of sputtered MOx films are amorphous or nanocrystalline. The MR ratio of a TiOx-based multilayer (0.43%) was much smaller than that of a SnOx-based one (2.0%) at T=77 K. As inferred from the shape of MR curves with a large saturation field above 4 kOe, suppressed MR change in the TiOx-based multilayer is caused by the interlayer diffusion of Co atoms into the TiOx layer. The same behavior was not observed in the SnOx-based one. The MR ratio was reduced by half on increasing tSnOx from 4 to 8 nm. This decrease can be ascribed to the scattering of the spin-polarized electron in the SnOx layer

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have investigated the magneto-transport properties of a GMR material consisting of CoPt(10 nm)/Cu(10 nm)/NiFe(6 nm) in which only the top NiFe layer is patterned by the half-milling technique. The top NiFe film was structured into a two-dimensional particle array with lateral dimensions of w=0.2 μm and aspect ratio L/w=1, 2, 4 or 8. From MR measurements, the remanent magnetization of the NiFe particle array was found to gradually decrease with L/w, which can be ascribed to the relative increase of an end domain area in the particles. The longitudinal switching field Hswt markedly decreases as L/w<2. From the micromagnetic simulation, it was found that the decrease of Hswt was caused by the change of switching configuration from an edge reversal to a coherent rotation with decreasing L/w

AbstractAbstract
[en] In order to elucidate the dependence of the internal electromagnetic-forces on the interstrand coupling loss in superconducting cable-in-conduit conductors, the authors develop a new measuring system. This system enables us to measure the coupling loss of large scale conductors with transport current of 20kA and the transverse magnetic field of 3.22T bias in the wide frequency range of the superposed ripple field of 0.1--300Hz. The data of the preliminary measurements show that the change of the coupling loss is only a little in the low frequency range to the extent of the electromagnetic-force of 0.44 MPa in the case of IS-conductor of the poloidal field coil for LHD

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have numerically investigated the co-operative magnetization reversal of magnetic particle arrays with fringe fields coupling. Demagnetization processes of one-dimensional particle arrays are studied taking the inter-particle separation S and uniaxial anisotropy Ku as parameters. Particles are found to rotate toward same or opposite directions depending on the values of S and Ku

AbstractAbstract
[en] Thermal stability of submicron scale Co90Pt10 island has been investigated using relief-structured giant magnetoresistive samples. Elongated islands with the lateral dimension of 0.5 μmx2.0 μm and the thickness of 6 nm show nonlinear increase of the coercive field with decreasing temperature. The evaluated energy barrier becomes larger than 80kBT for the thickness ranging from 6 to 18 nm

AbstractAbstract
[en] High-quality Fe3O4 films are fabricated on glass substrates with metallic underlayers of Cr/Cu or Al by RF magnetron sputtering at relatively low deposition temperature of 300 deg. C. The measured values of saturation magnetization Ms are 462 emu/cm3 for Al(50 nm)/Fe3O4(200 nm) and 422 emu/cm3 for Cr(45 nm)/Cu(300 nm)/Fe3O4(200 nm), which are drastically enhanced compared with that for the reference sample deposited directly on a glass substrate, and practically comparable to the bulk value of 477 emu/cm3

AbstractAbstract
[en] According to Agency's SIR Criteria, an attainment of timeliness goal is required. It has also been the long-term pending issue in PPFF (PNC Plutonium Fuel Facility). An improvement of safeguards approach for the attainment of timeliness goal was carried out based on pertinent steps. As the result of improvement, all nuclear material in process area became accessible material and the condition to attain timeliness goal was made. This paper shows inspection verification approach for in-process inventory, by which timeliness goal can be attained without burden for operators and inspectorates. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Eleven patients with non-small cell lung cancer (T1N0M0, n=9; T2N0M0, n=2) and 7 patients with metastatic lung cancer were treated between Oct 2008 and Aug 2010. We defined the target volume using four-dimensional CT image data, with seven patients treated with respiratory gating. The prescription dose was 48 Gy in 4 fractions at the isocenter. The median follow-up period was 12 months (range, 6-29 months). The actuarial 1-year local progression-free rate was 94%. Grade 2 and 3 radiation pneumonitis occurred in 3 and 1 of the patients, respectively. Good local control was achieved with acceptable toxicity although the follow-up period was short. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Reversal of spin orientation using current-carrying conductors are studied for a micro-structured pseudo-spin valve material of Co79Fe21(3 nm)/Cu(4 nm)/Co73Fe27(4 nm) by magnetoresistive measurements. Selective spin reorientation in one of the two magnetic layers are successfully performed with practical current amplitude smaller than 10 mA/μm. Compositionally differentiated coercive field in the CoFe films would be a dominant cause for the selectivity of the spin reorientation

AbstractAbstract
[en] Controlling vertical Bloch line (VBL) position and stripe domain chopping in multiple stripe domains, aligned in parallel by a period of 12 μm, are studied experimentally using a 5-μm bubble garnet film. Patterned high coercive-force CoPt films aligned in parallel are used for stabilizing the stripe domain. During the stripe stretching process, the VBL motion at the stripe head was controlled by the dc conductor current to get two different wall states: one with a VBL at the stripe head and the other without VBL. Stripe chopping experiments for VBL detection have been performed using hairpin and meandering conductors. We found that the meandering conductor presents excellent characteristics; the bias field margin and the chopping pulse amplitude margin are 58 Oe +- 6% and 133 mA +- 11%, respectively, for one stripe. VBL generation by the meandering conductor has also been studied using the same sample
