AbstractAbstract
[en] In the present work we report on results of β-decay measurements of N=82 and 83 nuclei above the doubly magic 146Gd, namely the decays of the 1/2+ and 11/2- isomers in 147Tb and 149Ho, and on the unusual β-decay of the 27/2- 3-quasiparticle isomer in 149Dy at 3 MeV excitation. For these nuclei the only allowed β-decay is the πh11/2 → νh9/2 GT-transition. The data provide new information on several nuclear structure aspects. Among these are the absolute GT-transition strength, and the distrubution of the νh9/2 orbital in the daugther nucleus. The β-decay data firmly identify specific one- or few-nucleon configurations at low excitation in the daugther nucleus, and moreover, the γ-decay of the primary β-populated states can excite low-lying above yrast levels that cannot be reached by other techniques and are of particular interest for understanding of the nuclear structure in the nuclei of this region. AbstractAbstract
[en] Further analysis of earlier 152Gd(α, 4n) in-beam data revealed several previously inplaced 152Dy γ-rays feeding the oblate yrast states, among them γ-transitions emitted in decay of the superdeformed band. We can also weakly detect the lowest two members of the superdeformed cascade, but our data were not quite good enough to make a firm connection to them. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The International Nuclear Physics Conference (INPC) is the main conference in the field of nuclear physics, endorsed and supported by IUPAP (International Union of Pure and Applied Physics). It is held every 3 years and the present edition INPC 2013 was the 25. of the series. INPC-2013 addressed the most compelling questions of modern nuclear physics, including nuclear structure and reactions, hot and dense nuclear matter, astrophysics, hadron structure and hadrons in nuclei, fundamental symmetries and interactions, neutrinos and nuclei, nuclear physics based applications as well as new facilities and instrumentation. The Conference was attended by more than 700 participants from 43 countries. This issue of EPJ Web of Conferences contains most part of the plenary, invited, oral and poster contributions given at INPC-2013

AbstractAbstract
[en] An innovative procedure for melt-texturing Nd1+x Ba2-x Cu3 O7±δ in Ar-1 % O2 was developed. The precursor bars were allowed to crystallize from semisolid under the strong thermal gradient created by a moving thermal shield with micro metric displacement. The advantages are in the possibility of varying the thermal profile on the sample and processing long bars. The procedure allows to obtain large domains with a satisfactory control on the stoichiometry. The problems of bar deformation and reactivity with the support were definitely solved. additional evidence of a spiral growth mechanism of the platelets stacked in the domains is shown. A.C. susceptibility measurements show Tc = 95.5 K and full diamagnetism below 88 K in 0-01 mT applied field. Jc value, determined from magnetization hysteresis loops by application of the standard critical state model, is: 6.5 · 105 A/cm2 at 5 K and μ 0H = 1T, revealing the strong pinning typical of textured materials

AbstractAbstract
[en] High-efficiency arrays for γ spectroscopy, now available in several Laboratories, make possible the measurement of very weak cross-over transitions of high potential interest. A limit to the measurement possibilities comes, however, from the simultaneous detection of two γ-rays of a stop-over cascade (or 'sum-up'), which cannot be distinguished from the true detection of the cross-over transition. We propose a new method to measure (and correct for) the sum-up effect, which can be used with symmetric γ detector arrays (like GASP and GAMMASPHERE), and discuss the possible techniques for identifying and estimating quantitatively the contribution of random pile-up, which can be sizeable at high counting rate. These ideas have been experimented at GASP in a dedicated measurement with a radioactive source of 52Mn. The results of this measurement are presented and discussed. Moreover, as a significant example, the method is applied to deduce the intensity of the E3 cross-over transition from the lowest 3- state of 148Gd
