AbstractAbstract
[en] Excitation functions for the formation of tritium in nuclear reactions were determined for the target materials Al-27, V-51, Nb-93, and Au-197, the projectiles p, d, Me-3, a, and Li-6 for projectile energies up to 100 MeV (for protons only up to 45 MeV). The tritium formed in the irradiated thick targets was determined after hot extraction by activity measurement in a gas-filled counting tube. The measurement results obtained by this procedure are tritium depth distributions and thick target yields. From the thick target yields the slope of the cross section was derived as function of the projectile energy. The main properties of the excitation functions are surprisingly large cross section for (X,t...) - reactions of maximally 100 mb, which are extensively independent from the target material and show only a faint projectile dependence. Because of these properties it is relatively easily possible to estimate unknown excitation functions for (x,t...) -reactions accurately to a factor 2. The experimental data were compared with results of calculations according to the exciton model. Thereby the formulation of Machner yielded the best agreement. For the cluster formation probability of the triton in the excited compound nucleus values between 1% and 5% were found for the used projectiles. The energy spectra of the emitted tritons are only insufficiently reproduced by the exciton model. (HSI)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The remote monitoring system for the Biblis nuclear power station has commenced operation in 1990. It is intended to provide the radiological data and other information required by the supervisory Land authority for performing its supervisory functions in accordance with the Atomic Energy Act. The monitoring station records and reports emissions of the reactor station during specified normal operation and as a result of incidents or accidents, measures local dose rates at four measuring stations at the power plant fence, and records the meteorological conditions. The system is explained in detail, including illustration and graphs. (BBR)

(BBR)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The formation probability of tritons in proton induced nuclear reactions is lower than in d- or α-induced reactions but nevertheless up to about 3% of the emitted charged particles are tritons. The precompound exciton model in the formulation of RIBANSKY and OBLOZINSKY predicts triton formation probabilities in right order of magnitude but the shape of the excitation functions differs from the experimental curves. AbstractAbstract
[en] Thick-target yields for the formation of tritium have been determined by irradiating stacks of Al' V, Nb and Au foils with deuterons and α-particles up to 50 MeV. The tritium was extracted and counted in a proportional counter. The thick-target yields for the different projectile energies were used to calculate average cross sections for the formation of tritium. The results are compared with the predictions of the precompound-compound model.(orig.)
