AbstractAbstract
[en] A sixteen channel analog transient recorder with 256 cells per channel has been fabricated as an integrated circuit. The circuit uses switched capacitor array technology to achieve simultaneous read/write capability and twelve bit dynamic range. Combined with highly parallel analog-to-digital converter and readout control circuitry being developed this system should satisfy the demanding electronics requirements for calorimeter detectors at the SSC. The system design and test results are presented

AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors have demonstrated the practical use of commercially available fiber-optic components for high-speed control of and readout from a small prototype of an electronics data acquisition system for a high-energy physics detector. This is the SVX microvertex detector system being readied for CDF. The prototype test system set up at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory is described, and performance results are given. The expansion of this prototype system to the operation of a full scale microvertex physics detector front end system is also discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] The mechanical design and construction progress of the CDF silicon vertex detector is described. Results on the location accuracy of the silicon strip detectors are presented and indicate an initial placement uncertainty of less than 10 μm. The water and gas cooling system, which is constructed of low mass materials and is used to remove heat from the readout electronics, is briefly described. Measurements of the performance of the silicon strip detectors are also given and show >98.5% functioning strips for the assembled SVX detector. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Technical details and methods used in constructing the CDF silicon vertex detector are presented. This description includes a discussion of the foam-carbon fiber composite structure used to silicon microstrip detectors and the procedure for achievement of 5 μm detector alignment. The construction of the beryllium barrel structure, which houses the detector assemblies, is also described. In addition, the 10 μm placement accuracy of the detectors in the barrel structure is discussed and the detector cooling and mounting systems are described. 12 refs
