AbstractAbstract
[en] The intravenous application of sodium perchlorate is a reliable blocking method for all scintigraphic examinations with sup(99m)Tc pertechnetate, in which an activity accumulation in salivary glands, thyroid gland, chorioid plexus, and gastric mucosa is undesirable. Likewise it is economic because it permits to shorten the examination time. As long as injectable solutions are not yet generally available the rectal application is an alternative for unconscious patients and for those with a disturbed perchlorate uptake in oral administration. AbstractAbstract
[en] In 139 patients /sup 99m/Tc perfusion scintigraphy and 131I-hippurate sequence scintigraphy was performed after kidney transplantation. The results of both the methods were analyzed usually as well as numerically. The patency of the blood vessels was estimated by perfusion scanning. The limiting values for 131I-hippurate nephrogram curves were determined for several parameters (T/sub max/: 5 min; T/sub 1/2/: 18 min; first flow time to the bladder: 3-5 min; crossing point of transplantate and urinary bladder curves: 10 min). The determination of the accumulation quotient as an indirect value of the hippurate clearance is of special interest concerning the evaluation of the function of the graft

AbstractAbstract
[en] Renal function was investigated in 51 patients after abdominal large field irradiation of different forms. 48% of the patients revealed severe parenchyma degenerations of the left kidney following co-irradiation of the spleen. Equal changes occurred in 16% and 18% of the patients, resp., after sole irradiation of the paraaortic lymph nodes or co-irradiation of the splenic hilum only. Clinical symptoms and resulting consequences are discussed. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A Meckel's diverticulum containing gastric mucosa was causing recurrent intestinal bleeding in a 5-year old boy. sup(99m)Tc-pertechnetate scintigraphy was used to demonstrate the heterotopic gastric mucosa preoperatively. Compared to intestinal radiography and angiography, sup(99m)Tc-pertechnetate scintigraphy is a mild and uncomplicated investigation without any risk and with a minimum of radiation exposure. Evaluating its results critically this procedure can be of great help in the preoperative diagnosis of intestinal bleedings of unkown origin. (orig.) 891 MG

(orig.)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The first experiments on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) have employed the first four beams to measure propagation and laser backscattering losses in large ignition-size plasmas. Gas-filled targets between 2 mm and 7 mm length have been heated from one side by overlapping the focal spots of the four beams from one quad operated at 351 nm (3ω) with a total intensity of 2 x 1015 W cm-2. The targets were filled with 1 atm of CO2 producing of up to 7 mm long homogeneously heated plasmas with densities of ne = 6 x 1020 cm-3 and temperatures of Te = 2 keV. The high energy in a NIF quad of beams of 16kJ, illuminating the target from one direction, creates unique conditions for the study of laser plasma interactions at scale lengths not previously accessible. The propagation through the large-scale plasma was measured with a gated x-ray imager that was filtered for 3.5 keV x rays. These data indicate that the beams interact with the full length of this ignition-scale plasma during the last ∼1 ns of the experiment. During that time, the full aperture measurements of the stimulated Brillouin scattering and stimulated Raman scattering show scattering into the four focusing lenses of 6% for the smallest length (∼2 mm). increasing to 12% for ∼7 mm. These results demonstrate the NIF experimental capabilities and further provide a benchmark for three-dimensional modeling of the laser-plasma interactions at ignition-size scale lengths
