AbstractAbstract
[en] The thermal decompositions of [Mg(NH3)6](NO3)2, [Ni(NH3)6](NO3)2 and [Ni(ND3)6](NO3)2 were studied by thermal gravimetry analysis (TGA) and simultaneous differential thermal analysis (SDTA) at a constant heating rate. The gaseous products of the decomposition were on-line identified by a quadruple mass spectrometer (QMS).The solid products were identified on the basis of Fourier transform mid infrared spectra (FT-MIR) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) patterns. Deamination of hexaaminemagnesium nitrate(V) to diaminemagnesium nitrate(V) undergoes in two steps and two-third of the all NH3 molecules are liberated. Deamination of both hexaaminenickel(II) nitrates(V) (non-deuterated and deuterated) to the diamines undergoes in three steps, and at two first steps one half of the NH3 molecules are liberated. The thermal decomposition of [Ni(NH3)2](NO3)2 and [Ni(ND3)2](NO3)2 is also different than that of [Mg(NH3)2](NO3)2. In both cases the decomposition is connected with the redox processes, but in the case of magnesium compound, contrary to the nickel compounds, in the second stage, besides of liberation of nitrogen, nitrogen oxides and H2O, undergoes the liberation of NH3 and the formation of Mg(NO3)2, which in turn decomposes next, in the third stage, to the oxygen, nitrogen oxides and MgO. This third stage is not present in the case of both nickel compounds, and the decomposition of diaminenickel(II) nitrates(V) undergoes directly to the final products (NiO1+x, nitrogen, nitrogen oxides and H2O) without the formation of Ni(NO3)2, because of the autocatalytic effect of the formed NiO

AbstractAbstract
[en] Nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR and 19F NMR) measurements performed at 90-295 K, inelastic incoherent neutron scattering (IINS) spectra and neutron powder diffraction (NPD) patterns registered at 22-190 K, and X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) measurements performed at 86-293 K, provided evidence that the crystal of [Zn(NH3)4](BF4)2 has four solid phases. The phase transitions occurring at: TC3=101 K, TC2=117 K and TC1=178 K, as were detected earlier by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), were connected on one hand only with an insignificant change in the crystal structure and on the other hand with a drastic change in the speed of the anisotropic, uniaxial reorientational motions of the NH3 ligands and BF4- anions (at TC3 and at TC2) and with the dynamical orientational order-disorder process ('tumbling') of tetrahedral [Zn(NH3)4]2+ and BF4- ions (at TC1). The crystal structure of [Zn(NH3)4](BF4)2 at room temperature was determined by XRPD as orthorhombic, space group Pnma (No. 62), a=10.523 A, b=7.892 A, c=13.354 A and Z=4. Unfortunately, it was not possible to determine the structure of the intermediate and the low-temperature phase. However, we registered the change of the lattice parameters and unit cell volume as a function of temperature and we can observe only a small deviation from near linear dependence of these parameters upon temperature in the vicinity of the TC1 phase transition

[en] The infra-red absorption spectra of the Cd(NH3)6Cl2 compound were obtained in the 80 cm-1 - 4000 cm-1 frequency range as a function of temperature from 90 K to 300 K. Two additional bands appeared at the phase transition temperature Tsub(c)=175 K in the far-infrared range. They were assigned as the torsional modes of the NH3 groups. The phase transition was also observed in the middle infrared region: two bands connected with the internal deformation of the NH3 groups split into two components each below Tsub(c). These results confirm the Bates and Stevens theory of the dynamic character of the phase transition for hexammine metal (2) halides. (author)
