AbstractAbstract
[en] Full text of publication follows: Improvement in the accuracy of antineutrino spectra is motivated by next generation reactor antineutrino oscillation experiments and by reactor monitoring for non-proliferation purposes. In a reactor core, thermal power is produced by the fission of Uranium and Plutonium isotopes. Prediction of antineutrino spectrum requires the knowledge of each one associated to these isotopes. For now, they were obtained by a conversion of measured electron spectra or by using microscopic calculations. We present a new method based on the mix of these two approaches and show that corrections to reference spectra used so far have to be taken into account. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Based on simulated LHC beam loss scenarios, fully depleted CMS silicon tracker modules and sensors were exposed to 42 ns-long beam spills of approximately 1011 protons per spill at the PS at CERN. The ionisation dose was sufficient to short circuit the silicon sensors. The dynamic behaviour of bias voltage, leakage currents and voltages over coupling capacitors were monitored during the impact. Results of pre- and post-qualification as well as the dynamic behaviour are shown

AbstractAbstract
[en] Modern micropattern gas counters are able to detect soft X-rays with high spatial resolution. Based on the principle of gas amplification, this detector type has a wide dynamic range and provides energy selection during image reconstruction. One of the most recent developments is the Multi-GEM, an efficient, high-rate capable micropattern gas detector. Owing to the separation of gas amplification and readout stage, this detector allows high flexibility in the geometry of the readout structure. With a two-dimensional projective readout, GEM detectors have shown good capability in providing X-ray absorption radiographies of small mammals. We present a detector with a novel design where the readout board consists of micropads connected to three layers of strips in such a way that two-dimensional spatial reconstruction and an unambiguous resolution of events with multiple hits is possible

Double Chooz Collaboration2011
Double Chooz Collaboration2011
AbstractAbstract
[en] Double Chooz is an experiment to search for the electron neutrino component of the third neutrino mass eigenstate (i.e., a non-vanishing θ13 mixing angle) by measuring reactor antineutrino disappearance over a 1 km baseline. It will be the first of a new generation of neutrino experiments using identical detectors at different distances from the neutrino source to reduce the systematic errors due to the uncertainties on the neutrino flux and on the detector efficiency. The experiment is designed to measure the sin2 2θ13 quantity or improve the current best limit by almost an order of magnitude. Its potential is a measurement at 3ρ if sin2 2θ13 > 0.05 or an exclusion down to 0.03 at 90% C.L. for Δm231 = 2.5 x 10-3 eV2.
