AbstractAbstract
[en] Although many spectrophotometric reagents for beryllium are known, their sensitivities do not approach that provided by the fluorimetric method using morin. A spectrophotometric method of comparable sensitivity is reported wherein addition of cetylpyridinium bromide considerably enhances the colour intensity of the beryllium - Chrome Azurol S complex. EDTA serves as a suitable masking agent for eliminating interferences from commonly associated ions. The results obtained are compared with those obtained with the morin method. Similar sensitisation of the beryllium - Chrome Azurol S system by polyoxyethylene dodecylamine and poly(vinyl alcohol) has been reported. (author)
