[en] The production of K⁺-mesons in proton-nucleus interactions at projectile energies far below and above the free nucleon-nucleon threshold of 1.58 GeV has been investigated using the ANKE spectrometer at COSY-Juelich. Double differential cross sections of K⁺ production have been obtained for diamond, copper and gold strip targets and beam energies T_p=1.0...2.3 GeV. At T_p=1.0 GeV the complete momentum spectrum of kaons emitted at forward angles (θ≤12 deg.) has been measured. The analysis of the target-mass dependence of the cross sections does not allow unambiguous conclusions about the underlying reaction mechanisms. Therefore, further measurements at forward emission angles, in particular of coincident K⁺p and K⁺d pairs, are needed

[en] The workshop on ''Strangeness Production in pp and pA Interactions at ANKE'' was held at the Petersburg nuclear physics institute (PNPI) in Gatchina, Russia on June 21/22, 2001. During the workshop the latest experimental data on K⁺-meson production in proton-nucleus and elementary proton-proton interactions obtained at the ANKE spectrometer at the proton synchrotron COSY of the forschungszentrum Juelich (FZJ) were intensively discussed. About 25 scientists mostly from Russia and Germany joined the workshop and 20 talks were presented. This booklet contains copies of the transparencies shown during the workshop as well as short summaries of each talk. These presentations focussed on yet unpublished data from ANKE which are still under analysis. For completeness and in order to give the reader an overview about the accomplished results from ANKE, also copies of already published articles are supplied as the first section of these proceedings. The outstanding result up to now is the measurement of deep-subthreshold K⁺ production in proton carbon collisions. These data reveal a high degree of collectivity in the target nuclei. (orig.)

[en] In a series of measurements with the ANKE spectrometer at COSY-Juelich, the production of K⁺-mesons in pA (A = C, Cu, Ag and Au) collisions in a wide range of beam energies, T_p = 1.0 . . . 2.3 GeV, has been investigated. Double differential cross sections d²σ/dΩdp have been evaluated. The strong suppression in the ratios of K⁺ production on copper, silver and gold targets to that on carbon observed for p_K < 200-250MeV/c may be ascribed to a combination of Coulomb and nuclear repulsion in the K⁺A system. Our data are consistent with a K⁺A nuclear potential of V⁰_K ≅ 20MeV at low kaon momenta and normal nuclear density. First momentum spectra of protons and deuterons measured in coincidence with the K⁺-mesons have been obtained at T_p = 1.2 GeV. These data supply direct evidence for the two-step reaction mechanism, with formation of intermediate pions, leading to kaon production

[en] K⁺ -meson production in pA (A=C,Cu,Au) collisions has been studied using the ANKE spectrometer at an internal target position of the COSY-Juelich accelerator. The complete momentum spectrum of kaons emitted at forward angles, θ≤12^o, has been measured for a beam energy of T_p=1.0 GeV , far below the free NN threshold of 1.58GeV. The spectrum does not follow a thermal distribution at low kaon momenta and the larger momenta reflect a high degree of collectivity in the target nucleus
