AbstractAbstract
[en] Experimental data on intensities and feeding times of the rotational bands of even-even nuclei produced in the (HI, xn) reactions have been classified. The correlation between the average spin of the populated level and the average angular momentum of the compound nucleus has been quantitatively considered. Semiquantitative calculations have been given for angular momentum and excitation energy distribution of the nuclei after the neutron evaporation for a fixed final product of the reaction. A simple formula has been given for calculation of lsub(crit) - a critical angular momentum for production of a compound nucleus at interaction of heavy ions with nuclei. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Numerical calculations have been excited out to determine how the cross sections for the production of transuranium isotopes are affected by the competition of γ emission with neutron evaporation and the fission of the compound nuclei formed in reactions induced by heavy ions. The γ emission broadens the excitation functions for (HI, xngg) reactions and shifts their maximum to a higher energy. It also increases the absolute values of the cross sections for radiative capture of heavy ions by heavy target nuclei have been calculated

AbstractAbstract
[en] The possible formation of weakly excited compound nuclei in the sub-barrier complete fusion of an ion with a target nucleus is considered as a method of synthesizing heavy and superheavy elements. The experimental cross sections of the reactions (HI,1n) and (HI,2n) are analyzed for the purpose of obtaining information on nuclear fusion. The value of the shift between the effective fusion and inelastic-interaction barriers is determined. Reactions of heavy and superheavy element synthesis accompanied by the emission of a small number of neutrons from weakly excited compound nuclei are selected

[en] The authors present experimental results of studies on isotope and charge distributions of fission fragments produced by irradiation of uranium and thorium with 40,44,48Ca ions. The formation cross sections of the compound nucleus and its dependence on the energy of the Ca ions are determined. The studies were carried out of the JINR laboratory for nuclear reactions. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Tunable lasers have been used increasingly in experimental investigation of the properties of atomic nuclei. Such lasers can be continuously tuned in frequency over the entire visible band and have a high energy ressolution and high power. These properties of laser radiation allow new possibilities of investigating the structure of the atomic nucleus. For example, size and shape of a radioactive nucleus, shapes of nuclei in isomer states, orientation of nuclei, effect of laser radiation the rate of a nuclear process and detection of single atoms

AbstractAbstract
[en] We report measurements of the mass distributions of fragments from fission of the nuclei 237Np, 238U, and 249Cf by 4He ions with energy 28 and 36 MeV. The measurements were made in a time-of-flight spectrometer with a mass resolution of 1.5%. The ratios of the symmetric and asymmetric components of the fragment mass distributions are analyzed. On the assumption that the shaping of the mass distributions occurs near the outer fission barrier, estimates are obtained for the difference in the barriers for symmetric and asymmetric fission

AbstractAbstract
[en] Excitation functions for the 176Lu(22Ne,αxn)194-xAu reactions were investigated. At ion energies above 5 MeV/nucleon cross sections are appreciable for αxn reactions with x = 0, 1, 2, and 3. Experimental results were analyzed by taking into account the distribution of the initial excitation energy in the residual nuclei after α particles have been emitted. The best fit to the experimental data is achieved by assuming that the reaction proceeds through a peripheral collision which leads to the formation of a heavy product, 194-xAu, with a large amount of angular momentum
