AbstractAbstract
[en] A few coils were designed to generate magnetic field gradients for ESR Imaging and an electronic circuit was constructed for pulsation to avoid heating of coils, a cavity and its samples. The coils made of felxible print sheets were attached to the inside wall of double quartzs cooling tube inserted in a universal cavity (TE011). The coil produced a magnetic field gradient of about 100 G. cm-1 along the static magnetic field by a peak current of 10A. Another coil was constructed with copper wire to be attached to the external wall of a rectangular cavity (TE012) in order to generate a magnetic field gradient of about 50 G. cm-1 along the axis of the sample hole. AbstractAbstract
[en] A deconvolution method is used for ESR imaging, in which ESR spectrum is divided into piecewise functions and each function is approximated to a cubic spline function and then deconvoluted using the momentum of the resolution function. By computer simulations, the optimal conditions for use of this method, the limitations, the properties against noise are estimated. The obtained results shows that the method works best when the width of piecewise function is equivalent to that of the resolution function and is very strong against noise. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In the measurement of ESR Imaging under moderate magnetic gradients which do not reduce SN ratios greatly, the observed spectra must be deconvoluted to become distributions of paramagnetic species. It is also necessary to use the deconvolution process for ESR Imaging on hyperfine splitted patterns. In addition, Abel inversion is necessary to obtain radial distributions regarding paramagnetic species in cylinder shaped samples. For these purposes, some programs were compiled to perform data acquisitions and deconvolution processes to evaluate their reliabilities and errors. From the results it was found that these programs were well designed and compiled for successful ESR Imaging. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Spatial heterogeneities of paramagnetic species were investigated in cylindrical samples of frozen sulfuric acid ices irradiated by γ-ray, using electron spin resonance imaging. The inverse of Abel's integral was used to derive radial density distributions from observed projection spectra. The symmetric radial density distributions of hydrogen, deuteron, and SO4- radical trapped in naked and aluminum foil covered samples were observed. Especially the spectral-spatial two-dimensional method allowed us to make the first measurement of the density of the SO4- radical which has never been observed because of its nonsimple ESR spectrum. The radical density measurement has made possible a discussion on the mechanism of the heterogeneity

AbstractAbstract
[en] The trapped hydrogen atoms produced in ammonium fluoroberyllate ((NH4) 2BeF4) single crystals prepared by γ-irradiation at 77 K show a superhyperfine structure from fluorine nuclei in the crystal. Based on the analysis of this structure, three types of trapped hydrogen atoms are indentified, which decay out in the vicinity of the ferroelectric phase transition point, 176 K. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Dielectric properties of the ferroelectric material, ammonium fluoroberyllate, irradiated by γ-ray were studied in the range of 30 Mrad. The ferroelectric phase transition is displaced towards low temperatures and its maximum dielectric constants are reduced with the increase of doses. The results are compared with published data for triglycine sulfate. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] F2- molecular ions in ammonium fluoroberyllate ((NH4)2BeF4) single crystals produced by γ-irradiation at 77 K were investigated by ESR. For comparison between experimental and theoretical results, the INDO and ANALDIP programmes were used to calculate spin densities, Fermi contact interactions, and dipolar ones. The proposed model for the unpaired electron orbital of the F2- ion consists of 2s- and 2p-orbitals of two fluorine atoms belonging to BeF42- ion. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Trapped electrons in γ-irradiated pure CH3OH and CH3OD glasses prepared by the vapour condensation method were studied by ESR and DTA. Differences of the ESR line width of trapped electrons in the pure methanol glasses and ones in methanol glasses and ones in methanol-water matrices prepared by rapid cooling were found. (author)
