AbstractAbstract
[en] Equilibrium Langevin dynamics of one-dimensional Lennard-Jones chains is studied. It is shown that depending on the noise strength, the friction constant and the number of particles, chains can synchronize, break, or remain desynchronized. Generally the synchronization time and the maximal Lyapunov exponent are found to depend on the number of particles and the ratio of noise strength to friction constant

AbstractAbstract
[en] Studies of the dissociation of fast projectiles in the Coulomb field of a heavy target nucleus have been proposed as an alternative access to radiative capture cross sections of astrophysical relevance. Instead of measuring the cross section A+b → C+γ, one considers the photodissociation process C+γ → A+b. Compared with the direct process, the cross section of the inverse one is enhanced due to the high density of virtual photons. The Coulomb break-up technique has been applied to radioactive beams in order to determine rates of reactions involved in the hot CNO cycle and the hot pp chain. 12N and 14O radioactive beams were produced through fragmentation of a primary 95.5 MeV/u heavy ion beam, and used to study the rates of the reactions 13N+p → 14O+γ and 11C+p → 12N+γ. Nuclear astrophysics requires many cross sections, and one could hope that the Coulomb break-up method would be of a large use. A survey of the most important reaction rates actually required in astrophysics will be made regarding the applicability of the break-up method to extract valuable experimental information

[en] The unbound nucleus 18Na, the intermediate nucleus in the two-proton radioactivity of 19Mg, is studied through the resonant elastic scattering 17Ne(p,17Ne)p. The spectroscopic information obtained in this experiment is discussed and put in perspective with previous measurements and the structure of the mirror nucleus 18N.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Background: Harmonizing [18F]FDG brain PET/CT quantification aims to reduce variations across equipment, reconstruction algorithms, and protocols, ensuring consistent and reliable results. It is crucial for establishing PET as a robust biomarker for clinical decision-making and research since cross-population and center comparisons contribute to better understanding and treating neurodegenerative diseases. Harmonization strategies for quantitative PET have been validated clinically for various tumours. However, harmonizing PET/CT for neurodegenerative diseases still represents a challenge because some strategies require expensive phantoms and complex analysis. This study aims to evaluate whether a simple method using only a cylindrical phantom, originally developed for oncologic PET, can be applied to PET brain harmonization.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The metallurgical concepts with regard to the structures and properties of calcium aluminate melts have been based upon analogies within ternary CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 systems. In this work the results of surface tension, density and viscosity of some calcium aluminate slags, in the temperature range of 1500 to 1600 degree centigrade are presented and the results are discussed based upon recent structural characterisation results of crystalline aluminates. The compositional range investigated was from 45 to 53 weight-% alumina. The results indicate a reduction in density as the molar ratio CaO-Al2O3 decreases. Surface tension falls on increasing either the molar ratio CaO-Al2O3 or temperature. Conversely, viscosity increases with increasing molar ratio CaO-Al2O3 and decreasing temperature. The compositional dependence of both surface tension and viscosity data may be associated with the presence of some aluminium ions in octahedral co-ordination, and a concept of surface behaviour is proposed which involves surface activity of aluminate anions containing aluminium ions in a reduced valence state, such as Al''2+. AbstractAbstract
[en] Background: Accurate staging of localized and metastatic prostate cancer is crucial for the guidance of treatment. Gallium-68 prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography/computed tomography (68Ga-PSMA PET/CT) has increasingly been utilized globally to assess the local and metastatic burden of prostate cancer. We aimed to characterize the metastatic spread of PCa in relation to 68Ga-PSMA, compare 68Ga PSMA PET/CT findings with radical prostatectomy histopathology findings and treatment change based on 68Ga-PSMA information. Methodology: The study included 56 consecutives newly diagnosed, biopsy-proven, treatment-naive, unfavourable/high-risk PCa patients primary-staged by 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT. 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT findings were compared with histology findings in radical prostatectomy. Pre and post 68Ga-PSMA treatment information was collected.
