AbstractAbstract
[en] Work since the last progress report has concentrated in three major areas: development and construction of a multimodule slice type detector system and associated electronics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); software development for data acquisition and reconstruction algorithms as implemented on the PDP-11/34 system at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH); testing of a system of 10 cm x 10 cm area cameras at BWH. The software development includes a method which we believe represents a unique approach to reconstruction of images. We report on this work in more detail in subsequent sections of this report

AbstractAbstract
[en] The 10cm x 10cm chamber has been used in conjunction with a new reconstruction algorithm. Ongoing investigations are testing system performance, including three-dimensional resolution and contrast ratio for various objects. The chambers have had some reliability problems. 30 references, 7 figures

AbstractAbstract
[en] A relativistic oscillator model is applied to lepton-nucleon reactions. It agrees quantitatively with data on hadron energy distribution, multiplicity, and π+/π- ratios. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have measured the relative cross sections of π+ and π- electroproduction from protons and neutrons, and combined them in a way which permits a new, detailed comparison with the quark parton model of the nucleon. We confirm the expected behavior with 1/ω of the quark charge ratio and the quark fragmentation function

AbstractAbstract
[en] A relativistic oscillator model is used to explain some features of high-mass low-spin excited mesons. The author predicts qualitatively that these states should have longer life times and appreciable direct photon emission as their mass increases; the analysis applies to hadronic states from e+e- annihilations. AbstractAbstract
[en] This article brings together a comparison of the predictions of a model of long standing with experimental data. The model is based on a parallel between quark bound states and a diatom, with the quarks as the atoms and the mesons as the photons. The results are partially already published and partially new. The motivation for this full compilation is the compelling nature of the many phenomena covered correctly by the model's predictions. Only one parameter is necessary for a complete specification of the model; it is related to the constant relating string length to excitation energy. (orig.)

[en] The mesh chamber consists of a multi-layer tungsten mesh gamma convertor coupled to a multiwire proportional chamber. Spatial resolution, time resolution, and efficiency are discussed for such detectors as applied to positron emission imaging systems operating in both an area and slice mode

AbstractAbstract
[en] A method is proposed to analyze the Bose-Einstein effect in lepton-hadron and e+-e- collisions in such a way as to measure longitudinal source extensions. A model is used which predicts measurable longitudinal source extensions as a function of excitation energy and meson-pair energy
