AbstractAbstract

[en] A gas purification system for use with a neutrino detector constructed of extruded polypropylene flash chambers is described. A volume of 90% Ne-10% He gas equivalent to the total volume of the detector (50 m³) can be purified every thirty minutes. (orig.)

[en] We describe a system used to monitor the output of 640 high voltage pulsers in a flash chamber neutrino detector. The device is designed to detect the most common failure modes of spark gap switched high voltage pulsers: failed capacitors and misfiring spark gaps. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract

[en] We present cross-section measurements for inclusive kaon charge exchange, (K^-,p)→(K-bar⁰,X), at 68, 116, and 176 GeV/c in the kinematic region x>0.7 and -t<1.3 (GeV/c)². The results are in excellent agreement with the predictions of triple-Regge theory and for the first time confirm the dominance of the Regge-Regge-Pomeron terms

AbstractAbstract

[en] We have measured the polarization of Λ's in inclusive pp and K^-p reactions and of Lambda-bar's in p-barp interactions at a beam momentum of 176 GeV/c. Data were taken in the beam fragmentation region with hyperon transverse momenta from 0.2 to 1.5 GeV/c. The p-bar-2 produced Lambda-bar's have the same magnitude and sign of polarization as the p-2 produced Λ's whereas the Λ's from K^-p interactions are more highly polarized and in the opposite direction

[en] A search has been made for the decay eta→π⁰e⁺e^- in an optical spark chamber experiment at the Rutherford Laboratory. The observations are consistent with no events being seen and give an upper limit. Rate (eta→π⁰e⁺e^-)/Rate (eta→ALL)<4.5x10^-5(90%C.L.). (author)

[en] In an optical spark chamber experiment a sample has been obtained of 80 eta Dalitz decays (eta→e⁺e^-γ) and the eta electromagnetic form factor has been measured to be F(X)=1.0-(0.22+-0.45)X, where X=Msub(ee)sup(2)/Msub(eta)sup(2), and the branching ratio (eta→e⁺e^-γ)/(eta→π⁺π^-π⁰)=(0.0082+-0.0020).
