AbstractAbstract
[en] HBOOK is a subroutine package to handle statistical distributions (histograms and scatter plots) in a FORTRAN scientific computation environment. It presents results graphically on the line printer, and can optionally draw them on graphic output devices via the HPLOT subpackage. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The ADAMO data system is being used in a number of particle physics experiments. Experience with it indicates that data modelling is a powerful program design method that extends across the whole software life-cycle, although existing support tools are not yet satisfactory. The entity relationship data of ADAMO can be handled by various programming languages, and can be used effectively in interactive data analysis. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A method is described for the 3D measurements of absorbed dose in a ferrous sulphate gel phantom, exposed in the thermal column of a nuclear reactor. The method, studied for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) purposes, allows absorbed dose imaging and profiling, with the separation of different contributions coming from different secondary radiations, generated from thermal neutrons. In fact, the biological effectiveness of the different radiations is different. Tests with conventional dosimeters were performed too

AbstractAbstract
[en] The observed scaling violations of the nucleon structure functions F2 and anti q have been analysed in the framework of perturbative QCD to determine the shape and magnitude of the gluon distribution. The data are in good agreement with leading order QCD, and the simultaneous use of F2 and anti q structure functions permits, for the first time, a reliable determination of the gluon structure function. AbstractAbstract
[en] The scaling violations of the structure functions F2, xF3, and anti q, as measured in deep-inelastic neutrino-nucleon scattering at high hadron mass W, have been compared with the predictions of QCD and other candidate field theories of strong interactions. Non-asympotically free theories with scalar and vector gluons are incompatible with the data. This leaves QCD as the only field theory that gives a consistent description of all the observed scaling violations. The data do not, however, permit a sensitive test of the existence of the gluon self-coupling. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Last improvements are presented of the method for dose imaging and profiling in tissue-equivalent phantoms exposed to neutron fields suitable for BNCT. The method brings to separate knowledge of the various dose components of the secondary radiation induced by thermal or epithermal neutrons in tissue. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new measurement of the ratio R = sigmasub(L)/sigmasub(T) of longitudinal and transverse structure functions in neutrino interactions on iron between 30 and 190 GeV neutrino energy is reported. The result is given as a function of the scale parameter x and the inelasticity ν of the interaction. The average value is R = 0.10 +- 0.07 around ν approx. equal to 50 GeV and is in accordance with a prediction from the QCD theory. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Right handed weak quark currents coupled to the usual left handed weak lepton current would be seen in inclusive antineutrino scattering on nuclei as a contribution at large y with the quark (not antiquark) structure function. We do not see such a term, and can therefore put an upper limit on the relative strengths of such right handed currents: rho2 = sigmasub(R)/sigmasub(L)<0.009, 90% confidence. This measurement puts limits on the mixing angle of left-right symmetric models. In distinction to similar limits derived from muon decay or β decay, our limits are also valid if the right handed neutrino is heavy. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Experimental evidence for the diffractive production of psi mesons in weak neutral current reactions is reported. The spectrum-averaged cross section for this process is sigmasub(diff) = (4.2 +- 1.5) x 10-41 cm2/nucleon, in agreement with gluonfusion models, but at variance with vector dominance calculations.
