AbstractAbstract
[en] The synthesis in eight steps of the title compound from the commercially available[20-14C]pregnenolone 1 is described. The expected 1-[4-methyl-3-oxo-4-aza-5α-androstane-17β-[14C]carbon yl]-1,3-diisopropylurea ([14C]FCE 26073) was obtained with a radiochemical purity higher than 97% and a specific activity of 2.03 GBq/mmol. An overall radiochemical yield of 21% was achieved from 1. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A literature method for the environmental integrated impact assessment, according to the IPPC Directive, has been critically analysed and adjusted in order to be used for the environmental performance assessment of waste treatment activities. The assessment parameters, sorted in eight treatment and combined pollution categories, have been partly redefined and re balanced. The adjusted methodology has been applied to a real case-study, a chemical- physical waste treatment plant, in order to calculate the current performance (Actual Integrated Index) and the ideal performance (Actual Integrated Index) achievable by technical and operational improvements. The adjusted methodology has also been used as a decision support system, in order to estimate the value of the expected environmental performances improvement after the execution achievable from the introduction of a single one or a set of improvement actions. The valuation of the Integrated Index percentage reduction, along with the action achievable, made the best actions able to be identified, both in comparative way and in the cost-effective one. The results, 50 as Effective Integrated Index and 42 as Ideal Integrated Index, in a 10-100 scale, show a medium impact level and point out an appreciable improvement margin on all the environmental performances, especially in air emission control and water consumption

AbstractAbstract
[en] MIcrostrip Detector Array System (MIDAS) is a compact silicon-tracking telescope for charged particles emitted at small angles in intermediate energy photonuclear reactions. It was realized to increase the angular acceptance of the DAPHNE detector and used in an experimental program to check the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn sum rule at the Mainz electron microtron (MAMI). MIDAS provides a trigger for charged hadrons, p/π± identification and particle tracking in the region 7 deg. <θ<16 deg.. In this paper we present the main characteristics of MIDAS and its measured performances

AbstractAbstract
[en] The cross section of the 3He (γ,pp)n reaction has been measured for the first time over a wide photon energy and proton angular range (200 MeV ≤ Eγ ≤ 800 MeV; 20 deg ≤ vlabp ≤ 160 deg) using the large acceptance detector DAPHNE at the tagged photon facility of the microtron in Mainz. The wide kinematical coverage of the measurement has allowed a detailed analysis of three nucleon absorption mechanisms. A model developed by Laget explains the main characteristics of the data in the Δ resonance region. (authors)

[en] The helicity dependence of the γ-vectorp-vector →pπ0 reaction has been measured for the first time in the photon-energy range from 550 to 790 MeV. The experiment, performed at the Mainz microtron MAMI, used a 4π -detector system, a circularly polarized, tagged photon beam, and a longitudinally polarized frozen-spin target. These data are predominantly sensitive to the D13(1520) resonance and are used to determine its helicity amplitudes

[en] The helicity dependence of the γp→nπ+ reaction has been measured for the first time in the photon energy range from 450 to 790 MeV. The experiment, performed at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI), used a 4π-detector system, a circularly polarized, tagged photon beam, and a longitudinally polarized frozen-spin target. Although these polarized data are mainly sensitive to mechanisms involving the D13(1520) resonance, a cusp structure at the η production threshold can be clearly observed. These data are significantly different from the predictions of the existing multipole analyses and are used to determine the helicity amplitudes of the D13(1520) and S11(1535) resonances with improved accuracy

AbstractAbstract
[en] A measurement of the helicity dependence of the total inclusive photoabsorption cross section on the deuteron was carried out at MAMI (Mainz) in the energy range 200< Eγ<800 MeV. The experiment used a 4π detection system, a circularly polarized tagged photon beam and a frozen-spin target which provided longitudinally polarized deuterons. The contribution to the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn sum rule for the deuteron determined from the data is 407±20(stat)±24(syst) μb for 200< Eγ<800 MeV

AbstractAbstract
[en] The photon asymmetry Σ of the D(γ→,p)n reaction has been measured across the photon energy range 160 - 410 MeV at the Mainz Microtron MAMI. Linearly polarized photons were obtained from coherent bremsstrahlung and their energies were determined with the Glasgow tagging spectrometer. The large acceptance detector DAPHNE enabled the outgoing protons to be measured over the complete azimuthal range and for polar angles from 35 degree to 155 degree in the c.m. system. The data are compared with existing results and recent theoretical calculations. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The helicity dependence of the total cross section for the γ→p→→nπ+π0 reaction has been measured for the first time at incident photon energies from 400 to 800 MeV. The measurement was performed with the large acceptance detector DAPHNE at the tagged photon beam facility of the MAMI accelerator in Mainz. This channel is found to be excited predominantly when the photon and proton have a parallel spin orientation, due to the intermediate production of the D13 resonance
