AbstractAbstract
[en] This study is designed to confirm the adverse effects caused by fuel misloading for a domestic WEC 3-loop type plant reflecting the recent operation condition. An evaluation of the core criticality for some severe cases of fuel misloading is involved in this study. With results of the evaluation, it can be estimated roughly how safety limits for refueling which are specified in plant Technical Specifications are effective even in any hypothetical severe misloading cases. This paper contains the quantitative study for loss of shutdown margin and inadvertent criticality caused by such a hypothetical multiple fuel misloading which would arise during refueling operation. The study was attained by core calculations for some misloaded configurations realized to make fresh fuel assemblies placed together in the center of the core. In the conclusion, this study can help understanding the consequences of hypothetical multiple misloading fuel and can be utilized as a reference case study.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Artificial intelligence is expected to influence clinical practice substantially in the foreseeable future. Despite all the excitement around the technology, it cannot be denied that the application of artificial intelligence in medicine is overhyped. In fact, artificial intelligence for medicine is presently in its infancy, and very few are currently in clinical use. To best leverage the potential of this technology to improve patient care, clinicians need to see beyond the hype, as the guidance and leadership of medical professionals are critical in this matter. To this end, medical professionals must understand the underlying technological basics of artificial intelligence, as well as the methodologies of its proper clinical validation. They should also have an impartial, complete view of the capabilities, pitfalls, and limitations of the technology and its use in healthcare. The present article provides succinct explanations of these matters and suggests further reading materials (peer-reviewed articles and web pages) for medical professionals who are unfamiliar with artificial intelligence

AbstractAbstract
[en] The main factor limiting endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms is the shape of the aneurysmal sac, especially the width of the neck. We describe an early experience and technical aspects of treating wide-necked cerebral aneurysm using a Guglielmi detachable coil (GDC) and simultaneous application of a temporary balloon. Four cases of unruptured wide-necked cerebral aneurysm were treated with GDC, with simultaneous application of a temporary balloon. Patients were aged between 29 and 49 years. On admission, clinical presentation was subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) in all cases. Hunt and Hess grade was 2 in two cases, 3 in one case, and traumatic SAH in one case. In all patients angiography revealed an asymptomatic aneurysm after rupture of another aneurysm or traumatic SAH. The aneurysms were occluded with GDC-10, and a Cirrus balloon occlusion system was used simultaneously. All procedures were performed under endotracheal general anesthesia and systemic heparinization. All cases were treated successfully, without parent artery compromise. The occlusion rate at the end of the procedure was total in three cases and subtotal in one. In one case a heparin-related hematoma occurred during post-procedural treatment and the patient eventually expired. One patient underwent follow-up angiography after 6 months, and the coil was not changed. An aneurysm may not be completely occluded, but with regard to coil compaction and parent artery preservation, the technique is an attractive alternative

[en] We report here a case of a pathologically proven solitary fibrous tumor of the pancreas. A 54-year-old man was referred to our hospital for further evaluation of a pancreatic mass that was found incidentally. CT, MR imaging, and endoscopic ultrasonography showed a well-defined, enhancing mass with cystic portions of the pancreas body. MR cholangiopancreatography showed no pancreatic duct dilatation. A solitary fibrous tumor of the pancreas is a very rare lesion

AbstractAbstract
[en] The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, which is defined as a plot of test sensitivity as they coordinate versus its 1-specificity or false positive rate (FPR) as the x coordinate, is an effective method of evaluating the performance of diagnostic tests. The purpose of this article is to provide a nonmathematical introduction to ROC analysis. Important concepts involved in the correct use and interpretation of this analysis, such as smooth and empirical ROC curves, parametric and nonparametric methods, the area under the ROC curve and its 95% confidence interval, the sensitivity at a particular FPR, and the use of a partial area under the ROC curve are discussed. Various considerations concerning the collection of data in radiological ROC studies are briefly discussed. An introduction to the software frequently used for performing ROC analyses is also presented

[en] To improve the Web-based radiology teaching file by means of a dynamic and interactive interface using Layer and JavaScript. The radiology teaching file for medical students at the author's medical school was used. By mean of a digital camera, films were digitized and compressed to Joint Photographic Expert Group (JPEG) format. Layers which had arrows or lines pointing out lesions and anatomical structures were converted to transparent CompuServe Graphics Interchange Format (GIF). Basically, HyperText Mark-up Language (HTML) was used for each Web page. Using JavaScript, Layers were made to be overlapped with radiologic images at the user's request. Each case page consisted of radiologic images and texts for additional information and explanation. By moving the cursor or clicking onto key words, indicators pointing out corresponding lesions and anatomical structures were automatically shown on radiologic images. Although not compatible with some Web-browsers, a dynamic and interactive interface using Layer and JavaScript has little effect on the time needed for data transfer through a network, and is therefore an effective method of accessing radiologic images using the World-Wide Web and using these for teaching and learning

[en] For the quantitative comparison of the degree of enhancement in nodular hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) at conventional and harmonic Power Doppler (PD) ultrasound (US). The average of %PDA of ten nodules gradually increased until 60 seconds after contrast injection and then gradually decreased. The average %PDA on conventional and harmonic PD US at 60 seconds were 34.9% and 19.5%, respectively. The average %PDA were significantly higher on conventional PD US than those on harmonic PD US at all times except at 20 seconds. The ratio of average %pda on conventional PD US to those on harmonic PD US became gradually larger after 120 seconds. Although contrast-enhanced harmonic PD US can be an effective method in evaluating the tumor vascularity of HCC because of less PD artifacts, the duration of effective enhancement was shorter and degree of enhancement is less than that of conventional PD US.

[en] We should use a computed tomography-simulator for the body measure and compensator manufacture process was practiced with TBI's positioning in process and to estimate the availability. Patient took position that lied down. and got picture through computed tomography-simulator. This picture transmitted to Somavision and measured about body measure point on the picture. Measurement was done with skin, and used the image to use measure the image about lungs. We decided thickness of compensator through value that was measured by the image. Also, We decided and confirmed position of compensator through image. Finally, We measured dosage with TLD in the treatment department. About thickness at body measure point. we could find difference of 1-2 cm relationship general measure and image measure. General measure and image measure of body length was seen difference of 3-4 cm. Also, we could paint first drawing of compensator through the image. The value of dose measurement used TLD on head, neck, axilla, chest(lungs inclusion), knee region were measured by 92-98% and abdomen, pelvis, inquinal region, feet region were measured by 102-109%. It was useful for TBI's positioning to use an image of computed tomography-simulator in the process. There was not that is difference of body thickness measure point, but measure about length was achieved definitely. Like this, manufacture of various compensator that consider body density if use image is available. Positioning of compensator could be done exactly, and produce easily without shape of compensator is courted Positioning in the treatment department could shortened overall 15 minute time. and reduce compensator manufacture time about 15 minutes.
