Study of anomalies in Kβ/Kα ratios observed following K-electron capture

[en] Kβ/Kα measurements for Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Cu, and Zn have been performed for cases of K vacancies created by K-electron capture and x rays. For nuclei with Z < 28, a marked difference in the Kβ/Kα ratios obtained by the two modes has been found

14.6 MeV neutron scattering and reactions on lithium isotopes

AbstractAbstract

[en] ⁷Li, ⁶Li and ⁶He spectra from 14.6 MeV neutron irradiation of ⁷Li and ⁶Li targets were measured at forward angles. Data on ⁶Li(n,n₀)⁶Li, ⁷Li(n,n₀,₁)⁷Li, ⁶Li(n,p)⁶He, ⁷Li(n,d)⁶He and ⁷Li(n,2n)⁶Li reactions were compared with previous measurements. Angular distributions for elastic scattering were also compared with theoretical predictions obtained using different optical-model potentials. (orig.)

Use of photodiodes for neutron dosimetry

AbstractAbstract

[en] This work presents the development and discussion of basic physical features of a small-size inexpensive proton recoil detection system, consisting of a (CH₂)sub(n) radiator placed in front of a planar silicon photodiode. The comparison between the theoretical prediction for the response function and the efficiency with the measured values shows that this detection system is capable of measuring neutron radiation doses of 5 Rad and more with an accuracy of approximately 5%.
