AbstractAbstract
[en] Radiation monitoring of Plantago Lanceolata L seeds growing in differently contaminated parts of the 30 km ChNPP area was performed in 3 years after the accident. By the end of the third year inhomogeneity of native populations had been displayed in more vivid vulnerability of seeds from mostly contaminated locations during intense gamma-radiation of seeds with high dose rates. refs. 5; figs. 2; tabs. 2

AbstractAbstract
[en] It was for the first time that of the fifth year of monitoring of Plantago Lanceolata L., reproduced within the thirty kilometer zone of Chernobyl NPP disaster, the authors discovered incidence of seedlings with various morphological abnormalities. It is suggested that the damages observed are related to the cumulative effect of radiation

[en] Intensive pollution with airborne 210Po and 210Pb has been observed on aboveground parts of plants grown in soil cultures in a model experiment imitating areas with naturally occurring high background radioactivity. Root systems of plants grown in a water culture appear to be polluted with these radionuclides also

AbstractAbstract
[en] A model experiment with a water culture of barley grown in closed vessels, with an increased content of 222Rn in the air, has demonstrated an intensive contamination of the overground part and roots of the plant with 210Po and 210Pb. Roots having no overground part were affected by radionuclides in a similar way as those of intact plants. Contamination was minimal in the plants grown from soil cultures

AbstractAbstract
[en] Genetic system of ''waxy locus mutation'' in barley pollen grains was used to estimate mutagenic activity of low background ß-irradiation (about 2.5 mR/h), uranium natural isotopes being used as irradiation source. In 3 out of 4 experiments age frequencies of waxy mutations were observed in irradiated plants. But the noted increase mainly had a tendency character and was statistically trustworthy only in one experiment

AbstractAbstract
[en] The results of the morphometric study of Plantago lanceolata L. grown, in nursery, from seeds of the first and second post-accident reproductions within the thirty-kilometer Zone around the crippled Chernobyl reactor show no relationship between the alterations in some quantitative indices and the variability of γ-radiation background in places where maternal plants grow

AbstractAbstract
[en] Stimulation of growth and development was observed in the first daughter generation of barley plants grown under conditions simulating an enhanced radioactive background. The stimulatory effect was partially reproduced in the second generation, and signs of depression of initial growth of plants were found in the third generation. A great number of alterations and their regular occurrence allow to refer them to lingering modifications originating under the effect of a radiation factor on vegetating plants
