AbstractAbstract
[en] In this thesis the hitherto unique counter experiment for the study of the scattering of neutrinos and antineutrinos on protons was presented. After completed data acquisition neutrino and antineutrino events in the energy range 20-320 are available which were identified by measurement of the vertex as interaction on the proton. The analysis of these events led to following results: 1. From simultaneously registrated proton and iron events the ratio of the total cross sections for charged currents was determined. 2. By means of the measured total cross sections on the proton and on iron the double differential cross sections were determined in the energy range 40-160 GeV for 0.1 < y < 0.9 and 0. < x < 0.8. 3. From the ratio of the differential neutrino and antineutrino cross sections the ratio of the valence distributions at large x was determined. 4. By extrapolation of the y distributions to y = 1 the quark momentum distribution and the antiquark momentum distribution was determined. 5. A common analysis of the differential neutrino- and antineutrino-proton cross sections and the cross section ratios for iron allows the separate determination of the valence distributions. AbstractAbstract
[en] An analysis of the antineutrino differential cross-section at large x and large y yields upper limits on R=sigmasub(L)/sigmasub(T) and on the presence of right-handed currents. Results of the CDHS hydrogen experiment on the ν-p and anti ν-p total cross-sections, the valence and the sea quark distribution ratios are presented. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The CDHS neutrino detector has been used to measure events originating in a tank of liquid hydrogen and in the iron of the detector. Total cross-sections, differential cross-sections, and structure functions are given for hydrogen and compared with those in iron. The measurements are in agreement with the expectations of the quark parton model. No significant differences indicative of nuclear binding effects in corresponding structure functions of protons and iron are observed. This may be of special interest in the case of the sea structure functions, since large differences are expected in some models. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A study of prompt neutrino events from 400 GeV protons on a beam-dump is presented. The ratio of electron- to muon-neutrino rates in 0.86±0.14, in agreement with e-μ universality. The anti-neutrino to neutrino flux ratio is anti νμ/νμ=0.81±0.19. The absolute rates and distributions observed are shown to be in quantitative agreement with the known properties of charmed-quark production in hadron collisions. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have searched for νsub(μ) oscillations by comparing the rates of νsub(μ) charged-current interactions in two detectors located 130 and 885 m from the target, which was struck by a 19.2 GeV/c proton beam from the CERN Proton Synchrotron. No evidence for νsub(μ) oscillations was found. At the 90% confidence level, Δm2 values between 0.26 and 90 eV2 are excluded for maximal mixing. The most restrictive limit on the neutrino mixing-angle parameter sin22THETA is 0.053 at Δm2 = 2.5 eV2. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The cross section ratios of neutral and charged current interactions induced by neutrinos and antineutrinos in iron have been measured in the 200 GeV narrow-band beam at the CERN SPS. We find Rsub(ν)=0.301+-0.007 and Rsub(anti ν)=0.363+-0.015 for a hadron energy cut of 10 GeV. The results are in agreement with the standard model of electroweak interactions. In the MS renormalization scheme at the scale of the W boson mass sin2Osub(w)(msub(w))=0.226+-0.012 is obtained, where the error represents the experimental uncertainty. The theoretical uncertainty is estimated to be Δ sind2Osub(w)=+-0.006. (orig.)
