AbstractAbstract
[en] A dynamic model of radionuclide accumulation in fish is developed. In the model, the fish population is represented by a set of discrete age classes. Each age class is characterized by a specific growth rate, diet and activity of metabolic processes. The model describes all known types of size effect in the contamination of fish with radiocaesium. The detailed dynamics of 137Cs accumulation by fish are demonstrated using the results of the model's application to ichtiofauna in a water body which has a high level of contamination with radiocaesium -- namely, the cooling pond of the Chernobyl NPP

AbstractAbstract
[en] The estimate of dynamics of radionuclides concentration in muscles of some game-fish from Kiev reservoir and likes in Bryansk region for period after Chernobyl accident was carried out. The concentration of 137Cs in fish has not exceeded the admissible concentration (600 Bq/kg ww) since 1993. The exceptions are the cooling-pond of Chernobyl NPP and Kozlanovskoe Lake where the concentration of 137Cs in fish's muscles exceeded the admissible level more than 5-6 times even in 1995. It was concluded that chronic irradiation of game-fish in water bodies outside 30-km zone would not affect the volume of fishing

AbstractAbstract
[en] A study was made of hydrobionts, particularly fishes, living within the thirty-kilometer control zone of Chernobyl NPP and northern part of the Kiev basin, after the disaster. Out of 31 fish species living in the NPP cooling pond some were idendified which were mostly affected by radioactive contamination. They were predators belonging, with respect to reproduction and development, to a lithophilous group

AbstractAbstract
[en] The results of studies realized in 1986 show that Cs isotopes are the most biologically important among artificial gamma-emitting radionuclides being accumulated in fish (carp, crucian, fat-forehead fish) of the accident region. Cs isotopes have the greatest concentrations in all organs and soft tissues of fish with the exception of bowels where Ce and Ru-106 concentrations can be higher. The effect of big fish, which is the tendency towards radioactive cesium concentration increase in muscles with individual weight growth, is revealed. Two theoretical dependences, which qualitatively describe the effect of big fish, are derived

AbstractAbstract
[en] In the spring of 1992 a survey of the contamination of cesium 137 in several links of the aquatic food chain started for the area just outside the 30 km zone of the electric power plant in Chernobyl. Samples were collected from the Kiev reservoir and in an old arm of the river Pripyat. Samples of 7 types of fish, macrofauna, zooplankton and water have been analyzed. Attention is paid to the relation between the weight of the fishes and the 137Cs concentration in the fish. The highest concentration was found in fish of prey (perch and pike)
