Joint annual meeting of the Austrian physical society, Swiss physical society, Austrian society of astronomy and astrophysics in Innsbruck. Bulletin SPG / SSP Vol 26, 2009; OEPG Tagungsband Nr. 592009
AbstractAbstract
[en] Full text: The CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN is preparing for the first proton-proton collision data, expected for the end of 2009. One of the primary topics will be the search for supersymmetry, one of the best studied candidates for physics beyond the standard model. The talk will give an overview of the search strategies developed in CMS with an emphasis on topologies containing jets, leptons and missing energy. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We present results of a search for supersymmetry in events produced in proton-proton collisions that contain high transverse-momentum hadronic jets, large missing energy, and leptons, including hadronically decaying taus. The search is performed with data recorded in 2011 at center-of-mass energy 7 TeV, with the CMS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. (author)

[en] We have calculated the two-loop strong interaction corrections to the chargino pole masses in the DR' scheme in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with complex parameters. We have performed a detailed numerical analysis for a particular point in the parameter space and found corrections of a few tenths of a percent. We provide a computer program that calculates chargino and neutralino masses with complex parameters up to O(ααS). (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The possibility of a resummation procedure in order to cure the UV/IR-mixing problem of noncommutative field theories is discussed. The method is presented for a scalar φ4 theory on Euclidean space. Finally, we sketch the idea of resummation for U(1)-gauge theories. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Full text: Searches for supersymmetry have to deal with a broad range of signatures on top of a large variety of background processes with cross-sections expected to be some orders of magnitude bigger than the actual signal. Therefore one requires a good understanding of the corresponding physics observables and careful control over backgrounds from standard model processes. For this purpose the first proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded by the CMS experiment have been used to study the performance of the reconstruction of jets and missing energy. The methods developed for data-driven background estimation have been tested to study QCD backgrounds and to validate predictions of background distributions. All results have been compared with predictions from simulation. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have calculated the leading Yukawa corrections to the chargino, neutralino and gluino pole masses in the DR-bar scheme in the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with the full set of complex parameters. We have performed a numerical analysis for a particular point in the parameter space and found typical corrections of a few tenths of a percent thus exceeding the experimental resolution as expected at the ILC. We provide a computer program which calculates two-loop pole masses for SUSY fermions with complex parameters up to O(ααS,Y4,αSY2)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Quantum corrections to the magnetic central charge of the monopole in N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory are free from the anomalous contributions that are crucial for BPS saturation of the two-dimensional supersymmetric kink and the N=2 monopole. However, these quantum corrections are nontrivial and they require infinite renormalization of the supersymmetry current, central charges, and energy-momentum tensor, in contrast to N=2 and even though the N=4 theory is finite. Their composite-operator renormalization leads to counterterms which form a multiplet of improvement terms. Using on-shell renormalization conditions the quantum corrections to the mass and the central charge then vanish both, thus verifying quantum BPS saturation
