AbstractAbstract
[en] Experiments at U. of Rochester (NSRL) and at Argonne National Lab, designed to measure the ground state nuclear magnetic moments of short-lived mirror isotopes in the sd-shell (23Mg, T1/2 = 11.3 s) and the f7/2-shell (43Ti, T1/2 = 0.49 s, and 45V, T1/2 = 0.54 s) are presented. Reaction products are mass separated using the Rochester RMS (23Mg) or the Argonne FMA (43Ti, 45V), polarized by passage through tilted carbon foils and implanted in a crystal host which is surrounded by an rf coil and immersed in an external magnetic holding field. Anisotropic Β-emission serves as signature of ensemble polarization, and a frequency scan of the applied rf locates the nuclear magnetic resonance when decay asymmetry vanishes. Adequate decay asymmetry has been observed for 23Mg in cooled MgO and Pt host crystals, resulting in a few rf scans and a preliminary magnetic moment value. Sufficient production yield and separation of 43Ti and 45V have been observed, and polarization tests are currently underway. Progress for these systems as well as improvement on the 23Mg moment will be presented
