AbstractAbstract
[en] Biochemical modifications of IgG can help to avoid damages caused by oxidation or reduction. Terminal groups of the saccharide structures, located in the Fc-portion of IgG molecules, were modified by enzymatic reactions. IgG was pretreated with sialidase, to cleave bound sialic acid, and with galactosyltransferase, to increase the number of acceptor sites for transfer reactions. Afterward, modified sialic acid derivatives were transferred enzymatically into the oligosaccharide chains of IgG. Labeling was possible with sialic acids modified in either position 5 or position 9. The usefulness of this method was demonstrated for radioactive and fluoresceinylated reagents, with yields up to 90% in 1 h. Immunological investigations have shown no influence on the immunoreactivity by the described modification of saccharide structures

AbstractAbstract
[en] A circuit breaker for power amplification in inductive energy storage systems is described using commercially ac breakers in connection with a ''High-Pressure-Breaking-Element'' (HPBE). Dimensioning values for the HPBE are given. Currents up to 30 kA have been interrupted by paralleling 3 HPBEs. With one HPBE a current of 10 kA was switched off producing a voltage of 30 kV

AbstractAbstract
[en] The work presented here deals mainly with the stress and fracture mechanics aspects of the first phase of the structural reliability experimental program based on the scaled experimental vessel at Ispra. The overall research and experiments make also part of the structural reliability assessment extrapolation pattern for the full-scale structures. The work presented here deals with the problem of the nozzle corner cracks induced by the fatigue under the pressure cycling

AbstractAbstract
[en] Total interaction cross sections for collisions of multiply charged Ta and Ti ions with H2 and He as targets have been determined in a gas chamber experiment. A laser produced plasma has been used as the ion source. Energy spectra of total cross sections are obtained by the combined time-of-flight/retarding potential method for collision energies from several eV amu-1 to about 30 eV amu-1. This energy range is of particular interest in the plasma edge region of fusion reactors. Generally it is found that the cross sections for H2 range from about 3 x 10-15 cm2 to 10-14 cm2 while those for He are smaller by about an order of magnitude. There is experimental evidence that the essential contribution to the measured total cross sections can be attributed to electron capture. (author)
