AbstractAbstract
[en] The stopping of Ag ions recolling through Al, Ti, V, Fe, Ni, Zn, Zr, and Pd was measured at various recoil energies with a method based on the Doppler shift of gamma rays. The dependence of the electronic stopping cross section on the stopper atomic number and on recoil velocity is compared to the semi-empirical predictions of Ziegler et al. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Gama ray pulse height spectra for seven radioactive sources have been analyzed for the full energy peak areas. Using these areas in conjunction with the results of an extensive compilation of relative gama ray intensities, a relatively simple efficiency function has been used to calibrate a coaxial Ge(Li) detector. The resulting relative intensities for each source have been used in investigation the consistency of the weighted averages of the compiled relative intensities. Possible systematic errors are discussed and recommendations are made with respect to the choice of gama ray intensity standards

AbstractAbstract
[en] The transitional nucleus 189Os has been studied by Coulomb excitation. Measurements with a Ge(HP) detector were made at 0 degrees, 55 degrees, 90 degrees with beams of 28Si at 80 and 88 Me 35Cl at 80 MeV and 16O at 58 MeV. A total of gamma-ray transitions leading to 23 levels we used in the least-squares code GOSIA to determined reduced matrix elements. A theoretic understanding of this nucleus has been attempt from the point of view of current nuclear mode as they apply to systematics of the 1/2 -[510] 3/2 -[512], 1/2 [503] levels in this ma region

AbstractAbstract
[en] A large number of corrections for recoil distance measurements either for lifetime measurements or for hyperfine interaction measurements have been calculated. The results are expressed in terms of the intensities of the shifted and the unshifted gamma ray peaks and in terms of the fractional charge of energy of the shifted gamma ray. The accuracy of the results should be limited only by counting statistics as the corrections are carried to order v/c (of the recoiling nucleus). Suggestions are made for reducing uncertainties in the hyperfine interaction correction to lifetime measurements and for improving the accuracy in hyperfine interaction measurements. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The electromagnetic properties of low-excitation states in 191Ir and 193Ir have been studied following Coulomb excitation. Gyromagnetic ratios were measured by the transient-field technique and level lifetimes were measured by the Doppler-shift recoil distance method. Multipolarity mixing ratios were determined from measured particle-γ angular correlations. The present lifetime and g-factor results extend the data available for comparison with theory and help discriminate between disparate experimental values reported previously in the literature. We compare the experimental data with particle-triaxial-rotor model calculations and with the predictions of the U(6/4) and U(6/20) supersymmetry models based on the interacting-boson-fermion model
