[en] Silver mediated electrochemical oxidation is considered as a promising candidate for the decontamination of TRU waste, due to its efficiency and safety. Fundamental experiments of the decontamination of solid waste and the destruction of organic liquid waste were carried out. This report summarizes the results of experiments. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] An autocatalytic reaction of hydroxylamine nitrate (HAN) in nitric acid solution was investigated to evaluate safety limit for handling of HAN/nitric acid solution as a plutonium reductant mainly by a thermal analysis. The initiation temperatures, minimum temperature for the autocatalytic reaction, were remarkably lowered with increase of nitric acid and iron concentrations. By ageing the solution, the initiation temperatures were further lowered due to an accumulation of nitric acid produced from slow decomposition of HAN. From these experimental data, safety limit for handling of HAN was evaluated. (author)
