AbstractAbstract
[en] Procedures for determining traces of calcium, titanium, vanadium, chromium, iron, copper, niobium, molybdenum and tungsten in tantalum are described utilizing 11 MeV proton activation. The instrumental method of analysis with the use of a Ge(Li) detector and the radiochemical separation of the corresponding fractions are described. The formula for the calculation of the concentration of traces with the use of thick target yields is given. Experimental data on the thick target yields radioisotopes 44Sc, 52Mn, 56Co, 65Zn, sup(93m)Mo, 96Tc are presented. The method of proton activation together with radiochemical separation enable to determine metal traces at the level of > 1-10 ppb. This method is used both for light and heavy traces in various matrices. Charged particle activation analysis with uses of thick target yields Y(E) does not require a simultaneous irradiation of a standard thus it is very convenient in multielemental analysis. (T.G.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Experimental data are given in this paper on the production of the radionuclide 93mNb by fast neutrons in the nuclear reactor BR-10. After a preliminary separation from tantalum-182, an annular source was made from the resulting 93mNb and the detection limits of some elements with this source and one of 109Cd were compared. These measurements showed that under approximately equal intensity of x-radiation of the sources the detection limits of the element by K x-rays is approx. 1.4 times smaller using the 93mNb source. Thus these results indicate the possibility of the use of 93mNb sources, produced in the nuclear reactor BR-10, for x-ray analysis. (author)
