AbstractAbstract
[en] In these lectures three aspects of dilepton production at high energy are revised: the origin of single direct leptons, the properties of the dimuon continuum, and study of high mass resonances. 46 references

AbstractAbstract
[en] The two experiments recently performed at the Fermi laboratory are reported. In one experiment measured are high transverse momentum of π0 produced in π+p and pp collisions at incident energies of 100 and 200 GeV/c. The second experiment presents preliminary data on the production of high transverse momentum particles from 200, 300, 400 GeV protons incident on H2, D2, Be, Ti and W targets. The main aim of the first experiment is a measurement of invariant cross section ratio R(P/π-) and R(π+/π-) dependent on transverse momentum. The results are presented in a graphic form. In the second experiment investigated are the dependences of particle yield and invariant cross sections from mass of a nucleus-target and transverse momentum. The results are approximated by analogous dependences for all nuclei excluding H2

AbstractAbstract
[en] Preliminary results of an experiment to measure the decay rate for Ksub(L)sup(0) → μ+μ- are reported. The experiment is performed in a high-intensity Ksub(L)sup(0) beam with Ksub(L)sup(0)'s momenta between 2 and 7 GeV/c. The Ksub(L) decay products have been analyzed in a double-arm magnetic spectrometer. Mass and angular distributions of the Ksub(L)sup(0) → μ+μ- events are measured and found to agree well with those obtained for the Ksub(L)sup(0) → π+π- normalization data. Using acceptances calculated by Monte Carlo the Ksub(L)sup(0) → μ+μ- branching ratio has been determined, GITA Ksub(L)sup(0) → μsup(+)μsup(-)/GITA(Ksub(L)sup(0) → all)=(7.2sub(-1.5)sup(+2.4)x10sup(-9). Changes in each cut i.e., criteria which the events are supposed to meet) produce little effect on the result as compared to the systematic error. The results of the experiment are consistent with those previously obtained

[en] A Higgs particle with mass greater than 200 GeV/c2 will decay predominately into two W's or Z's. The author considers here the experimental difficulties involved in observing these decays

AbstractAbstract
[en] The production of massive muon pairs (7<=M(μμ)<=11Gev/c2) in proton-nucleon collisions at Fermilab was studied. It was found that a very large percentage of high transverse momentum direct muons is produced as a member of a high mass muon pair. The production cross section for muon pairs was also found to agree with predictions of the Drell-Yan model of quark-anti-quark annihilation

AbstractAbstract
[en] The CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider have produced many results from the search for the top quark, the study of both the electroweak and strong interactions, the production and decay of b quarks, and the search for new high mass objects. A sample of recently obtained results are presented

AbstractAbstract
[en] The CDF search for the top quark is in progress at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Initial studies of events containing either an electron plus a muon, or an electron plus two or more jets indicate that the mass of the top quark is unlikely to be between 30 and 60 GeV/c2 if the usual charged current decay dominates. AbstractAbstract
[en] An experiment is described having for its purpose the answer to the question of whether the μ/π ratio, measured to be about 10-4, is compatible with the idea that the muons are decay products of massive mesons. Proton reactions with uranium were used as a production means
