AbstractAbstract
[en] A radiochemical method to isolate 99Mo from 132Te both produced in the fission of 235U has been developed. The methods is based on the formation of a cationic complex of tellerium with thiourea in acid medium which is retained (98.7 +- 0.5)% on a cation exchange resin (Dowex 50W-X8, 100 - 200 mesh) while (99.8 +- 0.05)% 99Mo passes through it, due to the non formation of such complex in the same experimental conditions. The radionuclidic purity of the separated 99Mo verified by using gamma spectrometry was found to be suitable for the preparation of 99Mo - 99 sup (m)Tc generators. The retention of 99Mo on an alumina column as function of ph was investigated. the best pH range for this purpose was found to be between 4.0 - 4.5. the 99Mo - 99mTc generator was prepared. the elution of99mTc was carried out with physiologic saline solution. The radionuclidic purity of the eluate was found suitable and the product can be used for Nuclear Medicine applications. (author)

(autor)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] Thiourea reacts with tellurium-IV ions, in sulfuric medium, to form cationic complex which is strongly retained on cationic ion exchanger. The method was applied to separate 99Mo from 132Te obtained in the fission of 235U since molybdenum does not form such complex and passes throught the cationic exchanger column in the molibdate form. In this paper, the procedure of the tellurium-thiourea complex preparation and its characterization are described. Elemental analysis, ultraviolet and infra-red absorption spectrophotometry as well as thermogravimetry were used to characterize the complex. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The radiopharmaceutical 201TlCl is used in Nuclear medicine for myocardial visualization. The solution of 201TlCl was prepared using 201Tl obtained by irradiating a natural mercury target with protons. This radionuclide was subjected to different quality control processes to verify the purity required for its use in Medicine. Some of these controls concerned the determination of 200Tl, 201Tl and 202Tl; the chemical identification of 201Tl+1; the hydrazine concentration, mercury contamination and the presence of phosphate. Furthermore, the biologic distribution in Wistar rats and tests for sterility, pyrogens and for toxicity were carried out. It was verified that the solution obtained was in the form of thallous chloride. This radiopharmaceutical can give a good heart image in animals but due to the contamination of 201Tl with 200Tl and 202Tl its use in human beings is not possible unless enriched 202Hg is used as target of irradiation. AbstractAbstract
[en] The use of radioisotopes of high specific activity is of great importance in studies on distributions of radioactive substances in living beings. In countries where only low thermal neutron flux reactors are available the production of 64Cu of specific activity is carried out by the Szilard-Chalmers process, which involves the braking of the chemical bondings of the compounds. In this work, experiments were carried out by irradiating the compound bis-[N-benzoil-phenylhydroxylaminate] copper (II) in IEA-R1 nuclear reactor in a thermal neutron flux of 5x1012 n/cm2. Samples without and with thermal treatment before and/or after irradiation were tested. Samples without pre-heating and with thermal annealing were irradiated for 6,5 h and yields of 64Cu of about 3,900 MBq/mg Cu were obtained 21 h after the end of irradiation. The results in this work show the possibility of the preparation of 64Cu of high specific activity with that compound by the Szilard-Chalmers process. The faseability of its production will depend on the optimization of the chemical processing and on the preparation of 64Cu in a suited form for medical applications. (author)

(author)Original Title

[en] A procedure for preparation of carrier - free fluorine-18 is described. The 18F is produced by neutron irradiation of lithium carbonate and is separated by passing the dissolved material through a 10000 C calcinated aluminium oxyde column. The yield is about 90%, the tritium content 2%; other radioactive impurities are not found. The radiochemical purity is about 93% and the lithium content of the solution is <0.2 ppm
