AbstractAbstract
[en] A data collection of a liquid radioactive waste treatment process of a research organization became necessary while developing the RAWMIS(Radioactive Waste Management Integration System) which it can generate personal history management for efficient management of a waste, documents, all kinds of statistics. This paper introduces an input and output application program design to do to database with data in the results and a stream process of a treatment that analyzed the waste occurrence present situation and data by treatment process. Data on the actual treatment process that is not limited experiment improve by a document, human traces, saving of material resources and improve with efficiency of tracking about a radioactive waste and a process and give help to radioactive waste material valance and inventory study

AbstractAbstract
[en] It is necessary that the surface dose-rate of waste drum should be measured to inspect and use it as a basic data for the treatment of radioactive waste generated from nuclear facilities. The system has been developed in order that it could automatically transfer the drum, measure the surface dose-rate of radioactive waste drum, and inspect not only the area of contaminated sources but also correct dose-rate within a drum according to measuring the divided segments equally at the same time. It is expected that the system be utilized to minimize radiation exposure on workers and manage the drum effectively at the waste production facilities as well as the radioactive waste treatment facilities. The characteristics of components is to measure the surface dose-rate of radioactive waste drum automatically and to record the measured data on a drum continuously or noncontinuously by using menu type software, and operational program is also considered

[en] An Radioactive Wastes Management Integration Systeme(RA WMIS) for the safe management of radioactive waste and spent fuel in KAERI is developed to collect basic information, provide the framework for national regulation, and efficiency in the management of radioactive waste and spent fuel. This system can also provide end-users access to information such as a statistical documents and integrated data from various waste generators to meet increased researchers needs and interests. We use result to find out entities of the number of 18 cases similar system study in the inside and outside of the country and analyze works in the radioactive waste treatment facility. We design database schema, entity-relationship diagram and prototyping input/output item. This system will be support to the study for radioactive material valance and inventory

AbstractAbstract
[en] Chemical wastes containing small amounts of uranium can not be disposed of them as industrial wastes. Especially for the removal of uranium, In this study, the method of immobilizing Diphosil powder within alginate beads is adopted to make a bead from powdered resin. Sodium alginate bead itself showed a capability to uptake uranium to above 60%, but the value was decreased to below 30% after equilibrium. The rate of uranium adsorption increased with increasing content of Diphosil in sodium alginate bead. Diphosil resin itself showed very fast uptake of uranium from early stages, and then the rates were leveled off. Diphosil bead showed a improved capability to uptake uranium considering Diphosil content in the bead, and a considerable potential for further applications of a continuous process by using a bead form of Diphosil

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this study based on the mass transfer theory, experiments for the evaporation rates depending on various conditions were carried out through the operation of the existing Natural Evaporation Facility in KAERI. Evaporation media were made of the cotton and polyester. Air circulation in the facility was forced by exhausting fans. The evaporation rate and the decontamination factor were calculated by the result of experiment. The evaporation rate increased as the flow rate of air supply, the feed rate of liquid waste, and the temperature of supplied air increased. As for the humility of supplied air, the evaporation rate was getting higher as the humidity was getting lower. As the result of this study, operation conditions of the Natural Evaporation Facility are optimized as follows; The air temperature above 8C .deg., the air humidity below 70%, the air flow rate 1.14-1.47 m/sec, and the liquid waste feed rate 4.6l/hr.m2. The decontamination factor and the radioactivity are 5.1x103 and 4.7x10-13μCi/ml respectively, at the above mentioned optimum operation conditions. The air factor in the Dalton's equation for evaporation was determined from results of experiment on the temperature, the humidity, and the flow rate of supplied air as following; Eh=(0.0168+0.0141V)ΔH

[en] The amount of radioactive organic liquid wastes generated from 1978 to 2003 in KAERI(Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) were 8 m3 of high organic content waste and 17 m3 of low organic content waste respectively. Technical reviews of the radioactive organic wastes generated in KAERI and literature survey of the organic waste treatment technologies were performed in order to make plans for the safe treatment of the wastes. Treatment methods of radioactive organic wastes will be settled according to the organic component and the radionuclides included

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this study, a modified bituminization technology has been developed, which needs no grinding of the granular resin waste, and enables the solid form to keep its shape stability as good as that of a cemented solid form. Also, the study intended to apply the developed technology to the practical treatment of radioactive resin waste. In the experiment, the granular type resin was used and the straight-run distillation bitumen with penetration rate 60/70 was used as the solidifying agent. The PE was used as the additive. The shape stability increased remarkably with the additive of PE, which act as a binder in the solid form. The shape of the solid from was maintained without failure during the long-term exposure test when the additive content of spent PE is more than 10 wt %. The proper ranges of bitumen content, PE content and operating temperature are 30-50 wt %, 10-20 wt % and 180.deg.C respectively. The bituminized solid form of radioactive resin waste by the technology of this study has the remarkably superior quality than the conventional solid forms, partially for the shape stability
