AbstractAbstract
[en] The low-temperature heat capacity of the metallic superconducting Zr70Be30 glass was investigated in two states, freshly prepared and annealed. Additional low-frequency vibrational modes that vanish after annealing were observed. It was established that their vanishing is accompanied by an increase of the band density of the electronic states. The parameters of the spectrum of the electron attraction interaction were also determined and their connection with the observed vibrational modes was analyzed. 25 refs., 3 figs., 2 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Presented are results of measuring the spectra of nonelastic scattering of cold neutrons on the samples of the V3Ge compound at the temperature of 100 K and the Vsub(3)(Gesub(0.75)Alsub(0.25)) alloy at 300 K. The temperature dependence of the phonon spectrum shows anomalous angarmonizm. The introduction of light Al atoms in the V3Ge compound leads to the formation of local oscillations and anomalous alteration of the spectrum as a whole-to the reduction of the average spectrum frequency

[en] A superconducting ceramic La2CuO4+δ sample (-25 g mass) is synthesized. The generalized density of oscillatory states at room temperature G(E) is measured by the method of inelastic incoherent neutron scattering. A significant smoothing of the low-energy part of the spectrum is established as compared with oscillating spectrum of a sample of stoichiometric composition

AbstractAbstract
[en] To investigate the phonon spectrum of dilute vanadium alloys of Vsub(1-x) Ptsub(x) (x=5 and 7 at. %) the study of incoherent inelastic neutron scattering has been made. In the low frequency of phonon spectra quasilocal vibrations (QLV) are observed which are due to the introduction of heavy impurity Pt atoms into V. The energy position of the QLV is found to be shifted toward higher values than those predicted by the isotopic substitution model. Introduction of Pt atoms also results in a shift of the whole spectrum toward higher frequencies. The QLV shift and that of the whole spectrum depend on the impurity atom concentration. The energy position of the QLV can be satisfactorily explained within the framework of the isotopic shift model if the renormalized spectrum of the initial lattice is employed

AbstractAbstract
[en] The method of inelastic incoherent neutron scattering has been applied to investigate the deformation of low-frequency range of the V phonon spectrum following introduction of 2, 3 and 4 at.%U. A non-linear concentration dependence of the impurity contribution is revealed in the spectra of inelastic neutron scattering. The results obtained are discussed within the frames of the perturbation theory and the coherent potential approximation

AbstractAbstract
[en] The inelastic neutron scattering intensity, I(E,Ω), for Ni62Nb38 metal glass has been measured over a wide range of scattering angles, Ω=13 deg. -120 deg., and energy transfer, E=-10-+50 meV. Three samples with the same chemical composition and different Ni isotope content have been investigated. This allowed us to reconstruct three partial inelastic scattering functions INiNi(E,Ω), INbNb(E,Ω), and INiNb(E,Ω), according to the Ashcroft-Langreth formalism. The propagating excitations in a two-component amorphous alloy are the result of the superposition of three partial excitations. Each of these excitations is given by the corresponding partial atomic distribution. The 'acoustic-phonon-like' dispersion relation is observed up to Q=6.5 A-1, which is the limit accessible in the present experiment

[en] The method of scattering of cold neutrons was used in an investigation of the metallic glass Zr67Cu33 before and after relaxation. Experimental evidence indicated an excess density of low-energy vibrational excitations in the freshly prepared sample, compared with that in a sample subjected to a heat treatment

AbstractAbstract
[en] It is demonstrated that singularities in the spectra for one-phonon scattering of neutrons by impurity crystals appear which are due to quasilocal oscillations (QLO) arising on introduction of heavy Ta and W atoms in the V lattice. This is due to employing the technique of inelastic incoherent scattering of cold neutrons by pure V samples. The behavior of the QLO in the double differential cross section for scattering of neutrons by impurity crystals depends on the relation between the scattering amplitudes
