AbstractAbstract
[en] Preliminary results on the production of muons associated with jets in the D0 detector at FERMILAB are presented. From the parallel and transverse muon momentum distributions with respect to the associated jet, the relative content of Heavy Flavors in jets, as well as fragmentation properties are inferred. Results are confronted with Monte Carlo predictions

AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors determine the effective inelastic p(bar p) cross-section into the D0 Luminosity Monitor for all run periods prior to September 2004. This number is used to relate the measured inelastic collision rate to the delivered luminosity. The key ingredients are the inelastic p(bar p) cross-section, the Luminosity Monitor efficiency, and the modeling of kinematic distributions for various inelastic processes used to determine the detector acceptance. The resulting value is σpbarp, eff = 46 ± 3 mb

AbstractAbstract
[en] A precise alignment of Muon System is one of the requirements to fulfill the CMS expected performance to cover its physics program. A first prototype of the software and computing tools to achieve this goal has been successfully tested during the CSA06, Computing, Software and Analysis Challenge in 2006. Data was exported from Tier-0 to Tier-1 and Tier-2, where the alignment software was run. Re-reconstruction with new geometry files was also performed at remote sites. Performance and validation of the software has also been tested on cosmic data, taken during the MTCC in 2006

AbstractAbstract
[en] We review theoretical and experimental results relevant to charm and bottom physics. In particular, we consider charmonium and open heavy-flavour production at Tevatron, LEP and HERA colliders, and in heavy-ion scattering. We study the prospect of future b-physics measurement at the LHC with the ATLAS and CMS detectors. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Results are presented from a search for heavy, right-handed muon neutrinos, Nμ, and right-handed WR bosons, which arise in the left-right symmetric extensions of the standard model. The analysis is based on a 5.0 fb-1 sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, collected by the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No evidence is observed for an excess of events over the standard model expectation. For models with exact left-right symmetry, heavy right-handed neutrinos are excluded at 95% confidence level for a range of neutrino masses below the WR mass, dependent on the value of MWR. The excluded region in the two-dimensional (MWR, MNμ) mass plane extends to MWR = 2.5 TeV. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We report an investigation of the invariant mass spectrum of the two jets with highest transverse momentum in pp → W + 2-jet and W + 3-jet events to look for resonant enhancement. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb-1 collected with the CMS detector at √s=7 TeV. We find no evidence for the anomalous structure reported by the CDF Collaboration, and establish an upper limit of 5.0 pb at 95% confidence level on the production cross section for a generic Gaussian signal with mass near 150 GeV. Additionally, we exclude two theoretical models that predict a CDF-like dijet resonance near 150 GeV. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The DOe detector is used to study pp-bar collisions at the 1800 and 630 GeV center-of-mass energies available at the Fermilab Tevatron. To measure jets, the detector uses a sampling calorimeter composed of uranium and liquid argon as the passive and active media, respectively. Understanding the jet energy calibration is not only crucial for precision tests of QCD, but also for the measurement of particle masses and the determination of physics backgrounds associated with new phenomena. This paper describes the energy calibration of jets observed with the DOe detector at the two pp-bar center-of-mass energies in the transverse energy and pseudorapidity range ET>8 GeV and vertical bar η vertical bar <3
