[en] A simple model of the 16O(π, π') quasifree scattering reaction is presented, and compared to experimental data. The model incorporates the same features as Monte Carlo neutrino generators for the CCQE reaction. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Angular distributions associated with the absorption of positive and negative pions at 65 MeV bombarding energy on 3He have been measured. Both positive and negative pion reactions exhibit angular correlations of proton-proton or proton-neutron coincidences which follow the d(π+,2p) kinematics. (Auth.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A distorted-wave impulse-approximation calculation for 50-MeV π+- inelastic scattering to the 21+ state in 26Mg has been performed. The calculation shows greater sensitivity to the separate neutron and proton deformations than is seen with any other nuclear probe. A fit to the measured differential cross sections gives the value of 0.83 +- 0.06 for the ratio of neutron to proton matrix elements for this state. This is in agreement with the values deduced with other probes

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have measured energies and angular distributions of three protons detected in coincidence following absorption of 228 MeV π+ in carbon. The counters used were arranged in a geometry that should have enabled observation of the two-step process of proton knockout followed by quasi-deuteron absorption of the recoil pion. The absence of high energy protons emitted in the backward direction provides strong evidence that such a two-step process does not contribute appreciably to the total absorption cross section, and suggests that in fact the pion may scatter several times before finally being absorbed on a quasi-deuteron

AbstractAbstract
[en] Using the new experimental data on iT/sub 11/, T/sub 20/, tau/sub 21/, and tau/sub 22/, presented in the first two parts of this work, along with existing differential cross section data, a helicity amplitude reconstruction of πd elastic scattering has been performed at T/sub π/ = 256 and 294 MeV. Model-independent information has been obtained for the amplitudes B, (A2+C2)/sup 1/2/, D, and the phase phi/sub D/. Taking two relations from a theoretical model in addition to the five existing observables, the seven real components of the πd helicity amplitudes have been determined. These amplitudes have then been used to calculate spin-transfer observables and the partial-wave components of the scattering amplitude

AbstractAbstract
[en] Threefold differential cross sections σ(θ/sub π/,θ/sub p/,P/sub p/) have been measured in a kinematically complete experiment. The experiment has been designed to extend earlier measurements into the kinematic region of the np final-state interaction. The data are compared with the predictions from the new relativistic Faddeev theory of Garcilazo
