AbstractAbstract
[en] High-velocity wing emission in CS and NH3 spectra toward the bipolar flow source NGC 2071 are compared. Column densities of CS and NH3 in the high-velocity wing emission are comparable, which means that CS is overabundant relative to NH3 by one to two orders of magnitude. The large enhancement of CS may be caused by an interstellar shock wave generated by the high-velocity outflow from the central infrared source(s)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper reports on the vaporization behavior of a single droplet impinging on a heated surface which was coated with ceramics such as alumina, magnesium zirconate, and zirconia. This was an extension of a previous study on a vaporizing droplet on a solid surface of ceramics. Lifetime curves for some pure liquids were measured at surface temperatures up to 1100 K. The vaporization process of the droplet was observed in detail using a 16-mm high- speed motion-picture camera and a high-speed video camera. It should be stressed that the ceramic-coated surfaces made possible a wide temperature range yielding minimum vaporization times and short lifetimes in spite of their thin layers, owing to their low thermal conductivity and surface characteristics

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have studied the mechanisms of angiotensin II (A-II) transport through a cultured arterial endothelial cell monolayer. The transport of 125I-labeled A-II was inhibited by excess unlabeled A-II (50 microM) and [Sar1, Ile8]-A-II (50 microM), but was not inhibited by bradykinin (50 microM). The transport process was shown to be temperature dependent and was inhibited by 10 mM NaN3 plus 50 mM 2-deoxyglucose. Monensin (50 microM), an inhibitor of endocytotic trafficking, reduced the rate of transport of 125I-A-II. It is also shown that the specific pathway for A-II transport was unidirectional from the apical to the basolateral surface of the endothelial cell monolayer

AbstractAbstract
[en] Rho Ophiuchi East is one of the molecular outflows discovered in the Nagoya CO survey of star formation regions (Fukui et al., 1986) and was independently discovered by Wootten and Loren (1987). IRAS 16293-2422 is the driving source of the outflow. A detailed observational study of this outflow source in the J = 1-0 and J = 2-1 transitions of CO and in the (J, K) = (1, 1) and (2, 2) transitions of NH3 was made with angular resolutions of 17-80 arcsecs. The high-velocity CO emission has been resolved into four compact separate lobes, consisting of two pairs of bipolar lobes, in addition to an extended monopolar blueshifted lobe. The NH3 cloud has a size of 2.5 x 2.5 arcmin being peaked at 1.7 arcmin east of IRAS 16293-2422. This NH3 peak is located just toward the edge of one of the compact blue CO lobes, showing a blueshift of 0.5 km/s from the rest of the NH3 cloud. The momentum involved in the NH3 peak is nearly equal to that of the CO lobe. It is suggested that the CO lobe has dynamically interacted with the NH3 core, resulting in the acceleration of the NH3 core by 0.5 km/s. 29 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Destructive and non-destructive procedures have been developed for the determination of titanium by photon activation analysis. The non-destructive analyses with an internal standard method are performed on niobium and tantalum oxides while destructive determinations, including non-isotope addition and radiochemical separation, are applied to yttrium oxide samples. AbstractAbstract
[en] The Ultra Low Crud-High Ni Control was adopted at Onagawa Unit-2 from the beginning of startup operation. In this paper, we described the results of the verification campaign respecting the Ultra-Low Crud Control: the operation history of the ultra low crud control up to second maintenance outage, the analysis of the surface deposit on the stainless steel coupon specimens exposed to the primary coolant, the deposit on the fuel rod surface and the model calculations of cobalt release and transport. Radiation dose rate of Unit 2 at first and second maintenance outages, and the dose rate of the recirculation piping and the LPRM housing were much lower than those of precedent BWRs which were operated under the Ni/Fe ratio control. This is evaluated to be due to the Clean Plant Campaign by which impurity input during plant construction and start-up test periods is controlled well and the Ultra Low Crude-High Ni Control. It is concluded from the analyses of the fuel deposit and stainless steel surface deposit that in the Ultra Low Crud-High Ni Control, 60Co concentration is not so low due to unstable oxide formed on the fuel surface but the deposition coefficient on piping is extremely low, and thus 60Co deposition and radiation dose rate, are maintained low. AbstractAbstract
[en] By using the 45 m millimeter-wave telescope, we have observed the CO bipolar flow source associated with an infrared source, GL 490, in the J = 1-0 line of carbon monosulfide. The high angular resolution of the telescope, 30'', has allowed us to find a compact CS cloud about 0.3 pc x 0.13 pc in extent around GL 490, which is elongated orthogonally to the direction of the CO bipolar flow. Part of the cloud shows signs of expansion at velocities of < or approx. =4 km s-1, although the total outgoing momentum of the CS cloud is smaller than that of the CO flow by an order of magnitude. This implies that the CS compact cloud has not been responsible for collimating the bipolar flow in this object

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have observed the CO bipolar flow source near NGC 2071 in the J = 1-0 line of carbon monosulfide with 30'' resolution provided by the new 45 m Nobeyama telescope. We find a compact cloud with a size of approx.0.3 pc x 0.15 pc embedded in an extended cloud. This compact molecular cloudd is more than 4 times smaller than ws indicated in previously published coarser resolution observations, is elongated orthogonally to the bipolar flow, and shows strong signs of rotation. However, we estimate the mass of the compact cloud to be approx.10 M/sub sun/, much less than expected if it has been focusing the flow. We therefore conclude that collimation of the flow is taking place at considerably smaller scales unresolved with the 30'' beam

AbstractAbstract
[en] The effect of small, deep ischemic lesions on the ipsilateral cortical circulation was investigated in 10 patients with persistent mild or moderate neurological deficits due to infarcts in the internal capsule. rCBF studies by the 133Xe intracarotid injection method were performed 14-180 days after the onset of the infarction. The rCBF functional image was made up from the data of 133Xe dynamic images measured by an Anger-type gamma camera and the rCBF values were calculated by the initial slope method. The average value of mean rCBFs (mCBF) in 10 patients was 44.9 +/- 7.1 ml/100g/min (average PaCO2; 39.9 +/- 4.3 mm Hg). In the rCBF functional images, a focal hypoperfusion area was observed in all cases and localized around the central sulcus, especially in the precentral and central areas. Significant decreases of mCBF and the tendency to decrease of the rCBFs in the hypoperfusion focus were noted in the patients with the larger infarcts in comparison with those with the smaller ones. These results suggest that a small, deep ischemic lesion such as a capsular infarct may have remote effects on the ipsilateral cortical circulation, due probably to the damage of a number of fibers passing through the lesion
