AbstractAbstract
[en] The invention is referred to accelerator technology and can be used for producing nanosecond ion beams in a direct action accelerator. The invention is aimed at increasing the ion beam transport efficiency. This aim is achieved by the fact that in a direct-action accelerator, containing a high-voltage pulse generator, opposing anode and wire cathode connected to additional current source, the cathode is made in the form, of meander in this case a grounded conducting grid transparent both for ions and magnetic field is fixed behind the grid electrode on the side opposite to the accelerated particle emitter. Due to a possibility of performing the heavy-current ion beam current neutralization the device proposed allows one to increase the ion beam transport efficiency. 1 fig

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper presents a review of vacuum arc facilities to serve as injectors for metal ion accelerators. A vacuum arc in different modes: 1) Arc current Iarc = 2-50 A, pulse duration tp = 10 μs to 20 ms; 2) Iarc = 20-100 A, tp = 50-1000 μs; 3) Iarc = 100-2000 A, tp = 100-2000 μs, 4) Iarc = 10-100 kA, tp = 1-10 μs were investigated as metal ion injectors. The metal flows generated by cathode spots are expanded for diameters of 10-50 cm, and then, or deposited on the grounded target, or post accelerated between grids at U(accel) = 10-120 kV. On the basis of such injectors, the series of TAMELY sources were investigated with metal ion current from Ii > 0.01 A, pulse duration up to 20 ms, up to Ii <5 kA, tp = 1-5 μs. AbstractAbstract
[en] The purpose of the invention is to increase efficiency of ion generation in diode type accelerator. This can be achieved by using suggested earthed electrode of the diode of the version of classical circuit for a double forming line (DFL), applied in electron accelerators. The suggested diode design is characterized by gate property with respect to electron current, therefore only ions from explosion-emission plasma are accelerated in accelerating gap. Ion generation proceeds under consistent conditions of DFL and diode operation and almost all the energy, accumulated in DFL, is transfered to ion beam. 2 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] To improve the ion beam focusing and to simplify the design of an ion gun consisting of a coaxially positioned conducting cathode and anode, the anode inner surface, that faces the cathode, having hydrogen-containing portions, the ion gun cathode is suggested to be made in the form of a straight solenoid. When connecting a power source to the cathode, the current passing across the solenoid creates an insulating magnetic field. As the maximum magnetic field intensity is attained, a high-voltage positive pulse is supplied to the anode. This results in the generation of the anode plasma which serves as the ion source. The ions accelerated in the anode-cathode gap pass between the cathode coils and move in the direction toward the gun axis. As the ions are conducting the zero magnetic flux, they are focused either to a line, in the case of a cylindrical solenoid, or to a point, in the case of a spherical one
