AbstractAbstract
[en] The main features and limits of present and future indirect searches of one extra neutral Z of general theoretical origin are overviewed. At the end of the LEP and of the pp collider runs, negative searches of a Z' will force this particle to be characterized in general by a high (more than ∼5-6 TeV) mass and by a very low mixing angle in orthodox cases. These negative features might lead to severe restrictions on the candidate models and, possibly, to a deeper theoretical understanding of their origin. (R.P.) 16 refs., 7 figs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Oblique correction contributions to the W mass involving the various vacuum polarizations in a renormalization scheme independent way has been done starting from a general approach which evaluates higher order corrections. The specific case of the heavy top corrections on the order of α2 to the precise W mass is considered. It is concluded that effects on the order of α2 are negligible even at a level of accuracy of 50 MeV. 7 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The contents of this final report from the Workshop on Z Physics at LEP can be divided into two parts. The first part, comprising Vols. 1 and 2, is a relatively concise but fairly complete handbook on the physics of e+e- annihilation near the Z peak (with normal LEP luminosity and unpolarized beams, appropriate for the first phase of LEP operation). The second part (Vol. 3) is devoted to a review of the existing Monte Carlo event generators for LEP physics. A special effort has been made to co-ordinate the different parts of this report, with the aim of achieving a systematic and balanced review of the subject, rather than having simply a collection of separate contributions. AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper evaluates the genuine one-loop hadronic corrections ( those which should not be evaluated by free field theory) to the (W,Z) mass correlation and to relevant measurable parameters of polarized electron-positron and neutrino-electron scattering. In all cases, these corrections are reduced to integrals of e+e-→hadrons data, mainly in the energy region from one to ten GeV. An estimate of the theoretical error induced by the experimental error on the latter data shows that it is encouragingly small
