[en] The AMS-02 particle spectrometer will be installed on the International Space Station (ISS) in fall 2005. We describe the design of the 7 m² AMS-02 tracker, which is based on the experience with AMS-01--successfully operated in space for 10 days in 1998. We report on beamtests with AMS-02 ladders showing that the charge of cosmic particles can be measured up to rigidities of 3 TV. The novel AMS tracker alignment control scheme based on IR laser rays detected by the Si sensors is described briefly

[en] A general overview of the L3P experiment and its main components providing high precision photon, electron and muon detection capabilities at LHC for luminosities up to 4x10³⁴ cm^-2 s^-1 is given. L3P uses to a large extent the infrastructure and the basic detector frame of the running L3 experiment at LEP. The unique feature of L3P is a large ( diameter 6 m) inner free space providing space for future developments as well as the flexibility needed to cope with the adverse background conditions at LHC. [en] We have studied the possibility of using charged tracks accompanying pp→H X(H →γγ) to determine the Higgs vertex along the beam direction. Depending on the number of overlayed minimum bias events a large fraction of Higgs vertices can be correctly identified using a tracking detector with the properties of the L3P tracker. The z-vertex determination reduces the uncertainty of the photon angle due to the length of the luminous region. This leads to an enhancement of the significance of the Higgs signal in high resolution electromagnetic calorimeters, particularly at smaller radii. (orig.)

[en] Inclusive pion-, kaon- and proton spectra from e⁺e^- annihilation at cms energies ranging between 3.6 and 5 GeV are presented. Semileptonic decays of charmed mesons have been found. The new heavy lepton is seen in the two prong inclusive electron spectrum

[en] A time-of-flight counter hodoscope consisting of 62 scintillation counters with dimension 172 x 20 x 2 cm³ each has been built. The counters were tested using electrons from an external beam at the DESY synchrotron in Hamburg. The time of flight was measured between a small scintillation counter and the hodoscope counters. A resolution of 0.5 ns fwhm, summed over all 62 counters was obtained. At present the system is in operation at the Double Arm Spectrometer DASP at the storage ring DORIS. By using data on the reactions e⁺e^-→e⁺e^-,μ⁺μ^- a resolution of 0.6 ns fwhm has been obtained, which will be improved in the near future. (Auth.)
