AbstractAbstract
[en] To determine its mechanical properties, samples were taken by means of core drilling at a depth of about 1013 m, from the main anhydrite of the Volkenroda mine near the Poethen shaft, and studied. The difference of about 8% of the elasticity modulus determined by various methods gives a measure of porosity anisotropy. The influence of micro-jointing by radial stress was studied by means of triaxial measurements, for which anhydrite samples, at constant surface stress, in seven temperature stages, axially three times distance-controlled each, were loaded and unloaded. Even under these test conditions, the described changes of elastic properties could be confirmed, and thus their relevance for final repositories proved. At a surface pressure of 12 MPa, the lasting reduction of the elasticity modulus occurs already in the first temperature cycle. To determine the breaking strength limit curves, triaxial compression and stretch tests, distance-controlled, at 0,1 mm/min, were carried out. Repeated loadings and unloadings served to determine the postbreaking strength. As expected, the studies of anhydrite rocks did not show any temperature dependence of their breaking strength. The study of not jointed samples in general showed a fracture angle of >54,7 degrees, that means that the fracture planes are arranged steeper that the octahedral face. (orig./DG)

(orig./DG)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] This comprehensive report for the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) presents the results of a study made on the possible effects of electricity market liberalisation on the public service aspects of electricity supply in Switzerland. The definition and extent of public service in the electricity supply area are presented and differences in costs and prices for local and regional usage of the electricity grid are examined. Aspects such as guarantee of supply and price-solidarity are discussed as are the requirements placed by federal energy-policies that concern energy efficiency and the promotion of the use of renewable forms of energy. The possible influence of liberalisation on the individual elements of public service in the electricity area are looked at and actions to be taken to guarantee this public service are proposed

[en] The attitude of the Dutch government towards the application of geothermal heat is discussed. Also a brief overview is given of the subsidies of the European Union and European Union projects with regard to geothermal heat applications. As a result of cutbacks in the Dutch governmental budgets geothermal projects, which are considered to be risky and expensive, are not carried out.4 figs., 1 tab., 6 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The 'Compressed Baryonic Matter' (CBM) experiment at the new 'Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research' (FAIR) in Darmstadt is designed to study the properties of highly compressed baryonic matter produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions in the 10 to 45 A GeV energy range. One of the key observables is hidden (J/ψ) and open (D0, D±) charm production. To achieve an adequate sensitivity extremely high interaction rates of up to 107events/second are required, resulting in major technological challenges for the detectors, front-end electronics and data processing. The front-end electronics will be self-triggered, autonomously detect particle hits, and output hit parameter together with a precise absolute time-stamp. Several layers of feature extraction and event selection will reduce the primary data flow of about 1 TByte/sec to a level of 1 GByte/sec. This new architecture avoids many limitations of conventional DAQ/Trigger systems and is for example essential for open charm detection, which requires the reconstruction of displaced vertices, in a high-rate heavy ion environment

AbstractAbstract
[en] The expansion of the agricultural lands in Argentina has caused changes in land use on sensitive socio-ecological systems that becomes a priority for territory planning. The aim of this paper was to define criteria to characterize and diagnose the main actors and processes involved in the conformation and dynamics of Diamante Jurisdiction (Entre Rios, Argentina). It had as stages, a delimitation of the study area to define an area that includes the capacity / potential of the territory and the environment in which it is placed, the characterization of the study area by identifying subsystems (environmental, social, economic and legal and institutional) and indicator variables of the territorial system, the diagnosis of the territory, including the identification of territorial elements of interest, a review of current regulations for each subsystem and a prospective and purposeful phases for land management. Some considerations are: the department Diamante represents a complex system, with subsystems that interact each other, differentiating between two sectors highland and islands sectors, each with an apparent conformation and dynamics. It is possible to delimited zones for the department from the systematic mapping and data useful to land management.
