AbstractAbstract
[en] Objective: To discuss the relationship between morphological characteristics of tumor microvasculature and blood supply type of primary hepatic cell carcinoma (HCC) through DSA. Methods: From Jan. 1998 to Feb. 2002, 32 cases, male 26, female 6, aged 28-76 (mean 50.56 ± 10.52) years, underwent preoperative digital subtraction angiography (DSA) without therapeutic embolization in the 301 hospital and 307 hospital. The intervals between DSA and curative resections were 13-70 (mean 31.89 ± 19.11) days. The diameters of the tumors were 2-23 (8.05 ± 6.17) cm. The blood supply type of tumor, the tumor microvasculature density (MVD), type and diameter of the tumor microvessels, width of tumor trabecular were recorded for these cases. The outcomes were then statistically analyzed. Results: 1) Blood supply of the tumor observed on DSA tended to be positively correlated with type of the tumor microvasculature. 2) MVD of hypovascular tumors were lower than those in moderate and hypervascular tumors. 3) The ratio of diameters between tumor microvessel to the trabecular of the tumor went higher with the increase of HCC blood supply on DSA. Conclusions: 1) The density, the configuration and the distribution of tumor microvasculature were not evenly distributed in HCC. 2) The features of tumor microvasculature possessed distinctive characteristics in different stages of tumor growth, simultaneously with some definite developing rules. 3) Distinct differences in morphological characteristics of tumor microvasculature between different blood supply types of HCC. AbstractAbstract
[en] A Bi3.15Nd0.85Ti3O12 (BNT0.85) thin film was prepared on quartz substrates by metal-organic solution deposition. The BNT0.85 thin film annealed at 700 deg. C in a rapid thermal annealing system with flowing oxygen is polycrystalline and in single phase. The optical transmission of the film was measured by a Hitachi U-3410 spectrophotometer, and the dispersion of the refractive index of the BNT0.85 thin film was calculated by the Manifacier method. A Metricon 2010 prism coupler was used to investigate the excited transverse electrical and transverse magnetic modes in the BNT0.85 thin film. The band gap of the BNT0.85 thin film is 3.82 eV. The refractive index and the thickness of the BNT0.85 thin film at 632.8 nm were 2.3374 and 568.3 nm, respectively, which are in good agreement with the transmission measurements

AbstractAbstract
[en] The seeds of three cultivars of tall fescue were treated by 60Co γ-rays, seeds germination, the activity of SOD, POD and PPO during seeds germination were analyzed. Results showed that the seed germination was promoted under 50 Gy irradiation, but were inhibited in higher dose irradiation. With dose increasing, the effect of inhibition was enhanced; the activity of three enzymes was increased at lower doses and declined with dose increasing. The dose of 150 Gy was recommended as suitable dosage for the tall fescue irradiation mutagenesis. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Highlights: • The phytotoxicity of HBCD diastereomers was assessed by metabolomics approach. • 13 potential biomarkers were used to discriminate the presence of HBCD toxicity. • HBCD induced interference of the biosynthesis of other secondary metabolites. • A suggestion was provided on the mechanism of toxicity. The ecological toxicity of hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) on animals, including fish and mice, has been reported, but its effects in plants, particularly its toxic mechanism, have rarely been investigated. An untargeted metabolomics approach for comprehensive assessment was selected to study the alterations in the metabolic profiles in pak choi leaves induced by exposure to trace-level amounts of HBCD diastereomers over 30 days. A supervised orthogonal partial least-squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) was performed to investigate differences between the HBCD and control groups. The discriminating metabolites were identified using public databases. The results indicated that the toxicity of the HBCD diastereomers was ordered as γ-HBCD > α-HBCD > β-HBCD. 13 metabolites were identified as potential biomarkers to discriminate the presence of HBCD toxicity. The lipid, carbohydrate, nucleotide and amino acid metabolic pathways affected were found in accordance with animals and humans, and also HBCD could induce the interference of the secondary metabolite pathways. The system of the stress defences was activated, including signalling pathway, antioxidant defence system, shikimate and phenylpropanoid metabolism. The carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism were disturbed by HBCD intervention, and the lipid, amino acid and secondary metabolite metabolism were regulated for HBCD stress prevention. These results provide insights into the mechanism and degree of HBCD phytotoxicity.

AbstractAbstract
[en] We describe a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for the solid-phase extraction of the skin protectant allantoin. The MIP was deposited on the surface of monodisperse silica microspheres possessing acroyl groups on the surface (MH-SiO2). The resulting MIP microspheres (MH-SiO2.MIP) showed a 3.4-fold higher adsorption capacity and a 1.9-fold better selectivity for allantoin than the respective non-imprinted polymer (MH-SiO2.NIP). The monolayer adsorption capacities of the MH-SiO2.MIP and the MH-SiO2.NIP were calculated with the help of the Langmuir model and found to be 6.8 and 1.9 mg•g−1, respectively. Adsorption kinetics fit a pseudo-second order rate mechanism, with an initial adsorption rate of 1.44 for the MH-SiO2.MIP, and of 0.07 mg•g−1•min−1 for the MH-SiO2.NIP. The material can be regenerated, and its adsorption capacity for allantoin remains stable for at least five regeneration cycles. It was successfully used as a sorbent for the selective solid-phase extraction of allantoin from Rhizoma dioscoreae. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Coping with increasing environmental issues, niobium oxyfluoride (Nb3O7F), as a novel semiconductor, is a promising photocatalyst due to its outstanding electronic and optoelectronic properties. However, the photocatalytic performance of Nb3O7F is restricted in practical application due to its weak optical absorption and low carrier separation. In this work, Nb3O7F/WS2 hybrids with superior optical absorption and photocatalytic activity have been successfully synthesized by a facile two-step sol-hydrothermal technique. UV–vis spectra show that WS2 not only exhibits enhanced optical absorption in the range of 420–1100 nm but extends the absorption edge, and tends to narrow the band gap of the Nb3O7F photocatalyst. Photocatalytic experiments indicate that introducing WS2 into Nb3O7F markedly enhances the photocatalytic activity in the degradation of methylene blue dyes under visible-light irradiation. Nb3O7F/WS2 photocatalysts exhibit the highest activity with 98.9% decoloration efficiency in 70 min, while pure Nb3O7F only achieves 67.9% in the same time and achieves its final decoloration ratio after 150 min. The excellent photocatalytic activity can be directly ascribed to more exposed active sites, higher carrier separation efficiency, and faster carrier transfer. The results may open up a new avenue for the design and preparation of novel and highly efficient photocatalysts. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Highlights: • Stereoselective bioaccumulation of chiral PCB 91 in earthworm was investigated. • Metabolomics and lipidomics techniques were applied to evaluate toxic effects. • Metabolic alterations were observed at 0.5 mg/kgdwt of PCB 91. • The metabolites and lipids were identified and the metabolic pathways were discussed. Stereoselective bioaccumulation, elimination, metabolomic and lipidomic responses of earthworm Eisenia fetida exposed to chiral polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) 91 in an earthworm-soil system were investigated. Preferential bioaccumulation of (−)-PCB 91 and elimination of (+)-PCB 91 were observed following 50 and 500 μg/kgdwt exposures. Enantiomer fraction (EF) values decreased over time during the uptake and elimination periods. Metabolomics and lipidomics techniques based on ultra-performance liquid chromatography/quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-QTOF-MS) revealed significant changes in 108 metabolites after earthworms exposure to (+)-, (−)-, and (±)-PCB 91, compared to control groups. Forty two of these metabolites were identified as amino acids, nucleosides, fatty acids, dicarboxylic acids, vitamins or others. Lysophospholipids including six lysophosphatidylcholines (LPC), six lysophosphatidylethanolamine (LPE), eight lysophosphatidylinositol (LPI) and five lysophosphatidylserine (LPS) were also differentially expressed between exposure and control groups. Alterations in the levels of metabolites and lipids indicated stereoselective effects of chiral PCB 91 on earthworm amino acid, energy, and nucleotide metabolism, neurodevelopment and gene expression. Overall, the effects of (+)-PCB 91 were more pronounced than that of (−)- and (±)-PCB 91.
