Symposium on CIAE 600 kV ns pulse neutron generator2001
AbstractAbstract
[en] Design and fabrication of the ultrathin vacuum valve and ion beam focusing system are introduced for application on CIAE 600 kV ns Pulse Neutron Generator. The valve is integrated with first electrode of focusing system. The electric dizzy and striking sparks on focusing system disappeared after using these devices. The ion source can be replaced easily and quickly because the ultrathin vacuum valve was used, and the vacuum system of generator is protected; especially, safe action of the accelerating tube is maintained; and using live is extended

AbstractAbstract
[en] A 10 MeV high intensity cyclotron has been built and achieved advanced beam specifications in CIAE. It is the first compact cyclotron with several particular features developed independently by ourselves. A lot of technical problems have been solved during the period of installing and beam testing. As a general test stand, it has been used to verify the basic design of the 100 MeV cyclotron under construction in CIAE, and also provides a useful platform for testing the key components of high intensity cyclotron. The success of this machine gives a solid support for production of compact cyclotron in China, and facilitates its application in area of nuclear medicine. This paper mainly introduces its test process, the key problems solved and the final results of beam tuning. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The project of Beijing Radioactive Ion-beam Facility (BRIF) composed of a cyclotron, an Isotope Separator On-Line (ISOL) and a Super-Conductive Linear Booster (SCLB) will be built in CIAE based on the existed HI-13 Tandem. The 100 MeV cyclotron with beam intensity (≥ 200μA) and compact structure feature is a main part of the new project. General engineering consideration related to the machine will be described in the paper. It contains of power supplies, vacuum obtaining, beam diagnoses and computer control. All these items are researched and preliminarily designed trying to meet the basic specifications of the cyclotron. Those proposals will be improved and optimized until this project leads to engineering process. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper describes the recent status of a RF System for the 100 MeV Cyclotron including the structure and numerical calculation results of cavities, RF power generator, frequency, phase and Dee voltage stabilization control loops, etc. The 100 MeV Cyclotron as a compact machine requires all RF cavities locate in the magnet valleys. The fixed RF frequency feature needs a fine-tuning system to keep cavity resonance circuit to operate at satisfied conditions. The main specifications of RF system and possible problems to be encountered are also given. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A test beam line for pulsed beam generation for 10 MeV central region model (CRM) of a compact cyclotron is under construction as China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE). A 70 MHz continuous H"- beam with the energy of dozens of keV or a hundred keV will be pulsed to pulse length of less than 10 ns with the repetition rate of 1-8 MHz. A 70.487 MHz buncher will be used to compress the DC beam into the RF phase acceptance of ±30° of the CRM cyclotron. The 2.2 MHz sine waveform will be used for the chopper. A pulse with the repetition rate to 4.4 MHz and pulse length less than 10 ns is expected after CRM cyclotron. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] As a part of the Upgrade Project of Beijing Tandem Accelerator Laboratory, a 100 MeV compact cyclotron was designed for the generation of high intensity proton beams. Due to the limit of acceptance by the cyclotron central region, a new H- cusp source was developed at China Institute of Atomic Energy. The design of this new source is based on TRIUMF's experience. More than 10 mA of H- beam with a measured emittance of 0.65 π mm mrad are obtained at a voltage of 28 kV from an extraction hole of 11 mm in diameter. In this article, the structure of the source, the magnetic field configuration of the multicusp and virtual filter, the extraction optics, the test results, and future improvements will be described

AbstractAbstract
[en] In the paper, some methods of numerical simulation of RF performance for accelerator cavity are introduced. In the design of a 70 MHz cyclotron cavity, to meet with the structure of magnet, RF frequency and Q value are researched, and a code based on finite element method is applied to simulate the process of RF experiment. The preliminary design of the cyclotron cavity will serve for the further physical and engineering design. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The characteristics of Beijing Radioactive Ion-Beam Facilities, a cyclotron based radioactive ion beam facility which was approved by the Chinese government in July 2003, are described briefly in this paper. The plane arrangement for various accelerators and their accessory equipment is also introduced. Then, the basic requirements of the control system for Beijing Radioactive Ion-Beam Facilities are given and the conceptual design of this control system is implemented. In order to demonstrate the feasibility of the conceptual design, a test control system was developed for the injection system of 100 MeV, H- cyclotron. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Development of voltage sweeper of chopper with CPNG are introduced. Voltage sweeper is one of important key parts of chopper. Two years working prove that it is stable and reliable. Its main technology performance save: sine wave frequency: 750 kHz +- 20 Hz; total distortion: <5%; the voltage gain: >65 Db; output voltage (V-V): 0-≥4000 V; the error≤+-25 V; output power: >7 W; voltage supply: 220V AC +-10%, 50 +- 1 Hz; total power supply: <100W; Work temperature range: 0 - 40 degree; Stability in long time ≤1%

AbstractAbstract
[en] At the China Institute of Atomic Energy, a central region model cyclotron has been constructed, which is dedicated for various experimental verifications to study beam properties. The design features of the ion source and injection line have already been described in other papers. We shall report here the results of the initial beam tests. A wire scanner is employed in the injection line to measure beam transverse sizes and these data can be used to fit the phase plane parameters after the ion source. Based on the beam tests results, the ion source built in 2003 has been improved recently. The improvement is mainly due to the repair of the multicusp field. From the ion source to the exit of the inflector, a transmission efficiency of 93% has been obtained for a continuous and low current input beam. It is also described here the experimental arrangement and the results.
