AbstractAbstract
[en] Some basic aspects of tritium chemistry and related problems are described, which may be important in the future tritium handling in fusion researches. First, the distribution of ionic species after the beta-decay of tritium was measured in tritiated water with a quadrupole mass analyzer. Tritiated water HTO or T2O was introduced in the source chamber, and the fragment ions were analyzed by a quadrupole mass filter. The data indicated the peaks of OH+ and O+ in the case of HTO. The peaks of OT+ and O+ appeared in the case of T2O. No peak due to HeOH+ and HeOT+ was observed, showing the correctness of Ikuta's calculation. The mass spectra of the released gas from lithium oxide irradiated with a nuclear reactor were measured by the same analyzer. The peaks due to HTO+ and H2O+ were seen. The abundance of tritiated gas was easily estimated from the areas of the HTO+ and H2O+ peaks. In the systems of tritiated compounds which undergo beta-decay, the stability of the daughter species of RHe+ type was studied by Ikuta et al. theoretically. The experimental study on the reactions of helium with other gases was performed. A peak due to HHe+ was seen in the spectrum of a mixture of hydrogen and helium. When lithium chloride is evaporated and mixed with helium, the reaction which gives LiHe+ occurs. The ionization potentials of HHe+ and LiHe+ in both cases were determined. (Kato, T.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Chemical reaction by implantation was described. With respect to implantation, description was made as to effects of thickness (depth) of target, energy of beam, radiation dose and change of electrification of incidence particles on chemical distribution. Effects of an angle between beam and crystal axis on the way of falling and chemical distribution of radiation by the depth of an invasion were also described. On rebound implantation, continuous separation of short-life nuclides by rapid separation technique was mentioned. Formation of chemical nuclides by replacement reaction of incidence particles about both implantations was also described. (Tsukamoto, Y.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In muon catalyzed fusion (μCF) in the mixture of deuterium and tritium, there is a small probability of muon sticking on a fusion product 4He and this causes a limit of cycle number of μCF in the reaction system: D + T → 4He + n. The sticking loss is, however, to be re-considered by a bond rupture model of hot atom chemistry because the process has similarity to hot atom chemical phenomena. (author) 17 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Environmental behavior of long-lived 99Tc has been reviewed. This nuclide is originated from nuclear weapon tests and nuclear reactor operation, and is now distributed all over the world. Detection methods for micro amounts of technetium have been described. Results obtained in some environmental samples showed slight accumulation of this nuclide in Japan as well as in Europe. Technetium-humic acid interaction has been studied to get detailed information on the behavior of technetium trapped in the environmental matter. (author)
