AbstractAbstract
[en] Cross sections, averaged over a 235U fission neutron spectrum, of some threshold reactions induced on zinc after short irradiations, have been measured. The studied reactions and the corresponding values are: 64Zn(n, p)64Cu, (37.4±1.4) mb; 64Zn(n, 2n)63Zn, (23.4±2.0) μb; 66Zn(n, p)66Cu, (0.775±0.079) mb; 68Zn(n, p)68mCu, (5.32±0.65) μb; and 68Zn(n, α)65Ni, (52.1±2.3) μb, all referred to the cross section of the 27Al(n, p)27Mg standard reaction, (3.84±0.18) mb. Working values for the resonance integrals of the reactions 70Zn(n, γ)71Zn and 70Zn(n, γ)71mZn, referred to the tabulated value for the resonance integral of the 68Zn(n, γ)69mZn reaction, (0.24±0.03) b, were also obtained. [en] The present work deals with the determination of fission averaged cross-sections, and the measurement of working values of the resonance integrals, for some reactions induced on zinc by the epicadmium spectrum (epithermal and fast neutrons) of a reactor. [en] We have measured the cross sections, averaged over a 235U fission neutron spectrum, for the two high threshold reactions: 75As(n,p)75mGe and 75As(n,2n)74As. The measured averaged cross sections are 0.292±0.022 mb, referred to the 3.95±0.20 mb standard for the 27Al(n,p)27Mg averaged cross section, and 0.371±0.032 mb referred to the 111±3 mb standard for the 58Ni(n,p)58m+gCo averaged cross section, respectively. The measured averaged cross sections were also evaluated semi-empirically by numerically integrating experimental differential cross section data extracted for both reactions from the current literature. The calculations were performed for four different representations of the thermal-neutron-induced 235U fission neutron spectrum. The calculated cross sections, though depending on analytical representation of the flux, agree with the measured values within the estimated uncertainties. (author)
