AbstractAbstract
[en] The growth and morphology of cobalt nanocrystals prepared by γ-irradiation method in a homogenous solution were significantly changed when a static magnetic field was introduced. The irradiation was carried out at the dose rate of 55 Gy/min for 27 h. The phase structures of the products were characterized by the means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). TEM images were used to observe the morphologies and dimensions of obtained cobalt nanocrystals. Meanwhile, a possible mechanism for the formation of the cobalt nanowires was proposed from the interaction between the magnetic field and cobalt clusters which were produced during the irradiation

AbstractAbstract
[en] PMAA (polymethacrylic acid) polymerized by γ-irradiation in electric field forms six-membered cyclic anhydride during heating process and the enthalpy of PMAA anhydridization was determined by DSC. Why the endothermic peak of PMAA anhydridization in DSC curve between 200 and 300 deg. C appears is particularly explained by calculation. The relations between applied electric field and the enthalpy of PMAA anhydridization are studied. The results show that, with the increases of the intensity of electric field in polymerization, the enthalpy of PMAA forming anhydrides nonlinearly increase, which might be related to orientation of carboxylic acid groups of the PMAA in an electric field

AbstractAbstract
[en] Carbon disulfide (CS2) is used as indirect sulfur source to synthesize spherical semiconductor lead sulfide (PbS) quantum dots (QDs) in a Quaternary W/O microemulsion by γ-ray irradiation at room temperature under ambient pressure. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrum are used to characterize the obtained product. A possible reaction process is discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] In this work, the waterborne polyurethane (WPU)/poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) composite material was successfully prepared via 60Co-γ ray radiation-induced seeded emulsion polymerization. The kinetic curves of the synthesis of WPU have been obtained in MMA medium and in acetone medium, respectively. The FT-IR spectra were used to investigate the grafting efficiency of the PMMA on WPU backbone

AbstractAbstract
[en] Highly monodisperse poly(methyl methacrylate) microparticles were directly prepared by radiation-induced dispersion polymerization at room temperature in aqueous alcohol media using poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) as a steric stabilizer. Monomer conversion was studied dilatometrically and polymer molecular weight was determined viscometrically. The gel effect was evident from the increase of the molecular weight with conversion and also from the percentage conversion vs. time curves. The influences of dose rate, monomer concentration, stabilizer content, medium polarity, polymerization temperature on the polymerization rate and the molecular weight of polymer have been examined. It was found that the overall activation energy for the rate of polymerization is 18.44 kJ/mol (10-25 deg. C). Based on the experimental results, the polymerization mechanisms were discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Cadmium sulfide nano-rods were successfully prepared by γ-irradiation at room temperature and ambient pressure using urea as the template. XRD pattern showed that the phase of the product was hexagonal. The morphology and the size of cadmium sulfide particles were viewed by TEM. Its formation process was described and some influencing factors were investigated

AbstractAbstract
[en] The kinetics of inverse emulsion polymerization of sodium acrylate solution has been studied at 23-39 deg C with Cobalt-60 Gamma initiation dilatometrically. The conversion-time curves are generally S-shaped. For maximum rate of polymerization, the kinetic expression has been determined for the conditions investigated. The overall activation energy for polvmerization rate(Ea) is (16.7 kJ/mol) (23-39 deg C). The effects of dose rate, monomer concentration and emulsifier concentration on molecular weights of polymers have been examined. Discussions on nucleation mechanism and kinetics have been taken
