AbstractAbstract
[en] The linear response upper limit of lutecium oxyorthosilicate scitillator at high dose rate to pulsed gamma radiation was measured by using Lissajous figure method at the pulsed gamma equipment 'Qiangguang-I'. The results of experiment indicate that the light response of LSO is still linear when the pulsed gamma energy flux is below 1.9 x 1019 MeV/(cm2 · s), otherwise, non-linear phenomenon appears. AbstractAbstract
[en] In order to measure the yield of a DT pulsed neutron source, a silver-activated detector was designed. The detector was made up of neutron moderating material, natural silver, plastic scintillator and a PMT. The output current of the detector was recorded by a micro-current meter. By comparing and analyzing the differences between the output current curves of the detector which measured under the constant radiation source and that of the pulsed neutron source, typical parameters were deduced. So the yield of a DT pulsed neutron source could be calculated. It is proved that this new method reduces the dependence of the section data, and it is very simple and convenient to use for on-line measurement. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The method of Lissajous figures is usually used in measuring pulse linearity of photoelectricity multiply tube (PMT). In view of bigger uncertainty of Lissajous figures, this study proposes that constant current calibration may be used to determine standard line of Lissajous figures, accurately determine the pulse linear range of PMT. The study also provides an application example which indicates that this method effectively reduces uncertainty rooting in judgement of standard line and enhances accuracy of measurement. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A silver-activated detector working in current-mode was designed in order to measure the yield of a DPF pulsed neutron source. The detector was made up of neutron moderating material, natural silvers, plastic scintillators and a photo-multiplier tube. The detection sensitivity to a DPF pulsed neutron source was defined. The detector was calibrated by a high voltage neutron generator. The neutron flux of this constant neutron source was absolutely measured by associated particle method. When the detector was saturated irradiated, output currents were recorded by the computer automatically. By analyzing the varied current curve, typical parameters were deduced. When the silver-activated detector is l m far from the 14 MeV pulsed neutron source, the detection sensitivity is about l.843 × 10"9 nA"-"1. When coverage factor is 2, the expand measurement uncertainty is less than 17.5 %. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] LaBr3 : Ce and LaCl3 : Ce which exhibit superior ability in detection of γ-rays have been studied extensively in recent years. The properties for both of the LaBr3 : Ce scintillation detector and the LaCl3 : Ce scintillation detector were studied. The relative sensitivities to incident γ-rays of different energy were obtained by calculation. The sensitivities of detectors to the 137Cs and 60Co sources were measured and the sensitivity ratio of γ-ray to neutron was inspected. The result shows that the LaBr3 : Ce and LaCl3 : Ce scintillation detectors with high sensitivities to γ-rays and good γ/n discrimination are very appropriate for measurement in the mixed field by neutrons and γ-rays. AbstractAbstract
[en] The law followed by the time response of CZT detectors is analyzed, by fitting the dropping part of the time response curves of CZT detectors to pulsed fast X-rays with the single exponential law,and analyzing the relationship among the decay constants, working voltages and surfaces of single CZT crystals. The results propose the dropping part of the response curves of single CZT detectors to pulsed X-rays follows exponential decay law. The dimension of CZT crystal can be classified into two types, one is 10 mm × 10 mm × 2 mm, and another is 5 mm × 5 mm × 2 mm. The magnitude of decay constants is 10 s. As the voltage increases, the difference of decay constants between different shapes of CZT crystals reduces. This conclusion can experimentally provide evidence to reveal the transporting law of carriers under penetrating radiation in CZT crystals. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A new dual-emitter vacuum Compton detector for gamma ray detection is presented. The emitters are made of Ta-Al clad metal, and the calculated detecting efficiency is 1.24 x 10-2e/γ. The sensitivity of the device was measured using an intense Co-60 gamma ray source. The experimental results agree with these obtained by Monte Carlo simulation. Experimental sensitivities for two sample detectors are 1.92 x 10-20 and 2.02 x 10-20Ccm2/MeV respectively, which are consistent with the simulation result of 2.05 x 10-20 Ccm2/MeV. The new detector is applicable to the detection of intense pulsed gamma-ray. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Background: To measure gamma ray in pulsed radiant hybrid field of gamma ray and neutron, the detector system is required to have a very fast time response, and a good γ/n discrimination. Purpose: The aim is to do experimental study on the detector of Cherenkov plumbic-glass fiber matrix sensitive to gamma ray. Methods: Based on the Cherenkov radiant theory, simulation calculation of energy deposition of the gamma, neutron in fiber arrays materials was done by using MCNP. According to the calculation data, plumbic-glass was selected as Cherenkov scintillated optical fiber, combining with the material of gathering and transmitting scintillated light, the photomultiplier (PMT), we designed detector of Cherenkov plumbic-glass fiber matrix sensitive to gamma ray. And then the 14.1-MeV neutron sensitivity experiments are performed on the Cockcroft-Walton generator in China Institute of Atomic Energy, the 1.25-MeV gamma sensitivity experiments on 60Co source in Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology. Results: The experimental γ/n discrimination is about 42.3 at incident angle of 45°, which is accord basically with the result of simulation calculation. Conclusion: The detector system has high γ/n discrimination, which can fulfill the requirements for gamma ray measurement in pulsed radiation hybrid field. (authors)
