[en] In this paper the solution to the diffusion equation for cuboid solidification products and relevant calculation curves are given. The paper is a supplement to an article written by the same author, which was published in Radiation Protection Vol. 2, No. 1, p. 15-22 (1982). AbstractAbstract
[en] Laminar coatings comprising a multi-amorphous Fe48Mo14C15Y2C15B6 layer and a crystalline NiCrAl layer were prepared by the high-velocity oxygen fuel technique. The structures of the coatings were studied with X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy, while the various mechanical properties, such as hardness, strength, interfacial toughness, bonding strength and impact resistance, were investigated by micro/nanoindentation, three-point bending and adhesion testing as well as by tup-drop impacting coupled with finite element method simulations. The results show that composite coatings exhibit an almost fully compact structure at interfaces between the amorphous layer and the NiCrAl layer with an attractive combination of high hardness and bonding strength, good interfacial toughness and high impact resistance with respect to the monolithic amorphous coating. The maximum bonding strength and impact resistance obtained in the laminar coatings reached 40 MPa and 21.2 J, respectively, which are respectively a ∼54% and a 10-fold increase over the monolithic coating. The enhancement of the bonding strength results from the formation of the localized metallurgical bonding as well as complete wettability between the NiCrAl layer and the amorphous layer, which is observed by high-temperature contact angle tests. The improvement in the impact resistance of the composite coatings results from hindering crack propagation and mitigation of stress concentration due to the addition of the soft NiCrAl multilayers. The present work may pave a way to the development of durable, tough and highly impact resistant amorphous–matrix composite coatings for applications in severe loading conditions

AbstractAbstract
[en] Bimodal mesopores silicas (designated as BMMs) with tailored morphology and controlled structure have been synthesized via varying additive ammonia amount in the TEOS–CTAB–H2O system based on hydrolysis–condensation behaviors of silicate species (TEOS) and coefficient principles of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide template (CTAB). The spherical BMMs with an average diameter of 25–150 nm were prepared in a relative low ammonia concentration solution, while the rod-like BMMs with an average size of 2 μm in length were obtained under a high ammonia concentration aqueous solution. Meanwhile, their corresponding morphologies and textural properties were characterized by various techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, SEM, TEM, FT-IR, TG, and N2 sorption, and then, the related cooperative mechanism including sol–gel chemistry and self-assembly process was put forward. - Highlights: • BMMs with uniform primary mesopore around 2.7 nm were synthesized. • The secondary mesopores between 15 and 30 nm were controlled via ammonia additive. • The spherical particles and rod-like morphology were obtained. • The related cooperative mechanism was proposed.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The source terms input used as the basic data for designing the radwaste treatment systems of Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant [300 MW(e)] is presented. The classification of radioactive liquid wastes, off-gases and solid wastes, and their treatment techniques, as well as on-site storage facilities for solid wastes are described. For liquid waste, the method of filtration-evaporation-ion exchange will be used as the main treatment technique. For off-gas, Holdup-decay treatment will be used. For evaporator concentrates, indrumsolidification method with normal domestic portland cement will be used. The assessment of impact of effluents to environment at normal operation of the NPP is also made. The results show that it will be safe for inhabitants nearby during normal operation and it can meet the requirements of national standard ''Regulation of Radiation Protection''

AbstractAbstract
[en] Model-independent measurements for the cosmic spatial curvature, which is related to the nature of cosmic spacetime geometry, play an important role in cosmology. On the basis of the distance sum rule in the Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker metric, (distance ratio) measurements of strong gravitational lensing (SGL) systems, together with distances from SNe Ia observations, have been proposed to directly estimate the spatial curvature without any assumptions for the theories of gravity and contents of the universe. However, previous studies indicated that a spatially closed universe was strongly preferred. In this paper, we re-estimate the cosmic curvature with the latest SGL data, which includes 163 well-measured systems. In addition, possible factors, e.g., a combination of SGL data from different surveys and stellar masses of the lens galaxy, which might affect estimations for the spatial curvature, are considered in our analysis. We find that, except for the case where only SGL systems from the Sloan Lens ACS Survey are considered, a spatially flat universe is consistently favored at very high confidence levels by the latest observations. It has been suggested that an increasing number of well-measured strong lensing events might significantly reduce the bias of estimation for the cosmic curvature.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The aim of this study was to find and establish the serum marker which can reflect the degree of intrahepatic lipid infiltration in Type 2 diabetes patients and assess the therapeutic effect. It helps us to observe the improvement of intrahepatic lipid deposit under controlled serum glucose metabolism. Twenty-three Type 2 diabetes patients with obvious intrahepatic lipid infiltration diagnosed by CT scan were divided into two groups, one group took rosiglitazone orally (male: female 5:6), and the combined treatment group took rosiglitazone and metformin simultaneously (male: female 6:6), in daily therapeutic dose of 4 mg rosiglitazone and 2 g metformin for 24 weeks. Before and after treatment, we measured fasting serum glucose, glycated hemoglobin (GHb), insulin, insulin resistant index, plasma adiponectin, leptin, tumor necrotic factor α (TNF-α), ferrtin respectively. After the treatment, fasting serum glucose and GHb decreased obvious, especially the combined treatment group. Intrahepatic lipid content percent decreased, too, in both groups (the rosiglitazone group: 43.3±25.8 vs 29.1±18.7, P<0.01, the combined group: 43.4±21.8 vs 22.0±16.7, P<0.01). Plasma adiponectin and TNF-α had correlation to intrahepatic lipid contend percent change. Plasma adiponectin and TNF-α was obviously improved in the rosiglitazone group and the combined treatment group (Adiponectin: 11.96±7.3 vs 20.61±12.0 ng/mL, 12.76±6.7 vs 25.81±12.8 ng/mL; TNFα: 6.92±2.5 vs 5.89±1.9 pg/mL, 6.81±2.14 vs 5.45±2.0 pg/mL; P<0.01). In addition, serum ferrtin concentration decreased obviously, especially the combined treatment group (rosiglitazone group: 345±116 vs 288±71ng/mL, P<0.05, combined treatment group: 362±194 vs 258±109 ng/mL, P<0.01). It can be concluded that 1) rosiglitazone and metformin controls serum glucose metabolism and improves intrahepatic lipid infiltration by especially the combined treatment, 2) plasma adiponectic and TNF-α are effective markers to reflect intrahepatic lipid infiltration, and they correlate to degree of intrahepatic lipid infiltration and achieve therapeutic effect, and 3) serum ferrtin reflects degree of intrahepatic lipid infiltration. The method is conveniently applicable, for curing the disease and monitoring the degree of intrahepatic lipid infiltration. (authors)

[en] The accurate expression for the steady-state velocity of an irreversible enzyme-catalyzed reaction obtained by Shin and co-workers (J. Chem. Phys. 2001, 115, 1455) is generalized to allow for the rebinding of the product. The amplitude of the power-law (t-1/2) relaxation of the free- and bound-enzyme concentrations to steady-state values is expressed in terms of the steady-state velocity and the intrinsic (chemical) rate constants. This result is conjectured to be exact, even though our expression for the steady-state velocity in terms of microscopic parameters is only approximate

[en] We examine the energy surfaces of the driven Rabi model, also known as the biased or generalized Rabi model, as a function of the coupling strength and the driving term. The energy surfaces are plotted numerically from the known analytic solution. The resulting energy landscape consists of an infinite stack of sheets connected by conical intersection points located at the degenerate Juddian points in the eigenspectrum. Trajectories encircling these points are expected to exhibit a nonzero geometric phase. (letter)

[en] The fully anisotropic two-leg spin- XXZ ladder model is studied in terms of an algorithm based on the tensor network (TN) representation of quantum many-body states as an adaptation of projected entangled pair states to the geometry of translationally invariant infinite-size quantum spin ladders. The TN algorithm provides an effective method to generate the groundstate wave function, which allows computation of the groundstate fidelity per lattice site, a universal marker to detect phase transitions in quantum many-body systems. The groundstate fidelity is used in conjunction with local order and string order parameters to systematically map out the groundstate phase diagram of the ladder model. The phase diagram exhibits a rich diversity of quantum phases. These are the ferromagnetic, stripe ferromagnetic, rung singlet, rung triplet, Néel, stripe Néel and Haldane phases, along with the two XY phases XY1 and XY2. (paper)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Objective: To evaluate the function of bone marrow derived DC of tumor bearing mice after immunotherapy. Methods: Tumor bearing mice were immunized with DC vaccine plus injection of agonistic anti-4-1BB monoclonal antibody. The proliferation of T cells primed with bone marrow derived DC of tumor bearing mice after immunotherapy was tested by 3H-TdR incorporation. ELISA was employed to determine the levels of IL-2, IFN-γ and IL-10 secreted by DC primed T cells. Results: Bone marrow derived DC of tumor bearing mice was less efficient in stimulating the proliferation of T cells and IL-2 and IFN-γ secretion made by T cells. After immunotherapy, the proliferation of cells and IL-2 and IFN-γ secretionmade by T cells were enhanced. Conclusion: The function of bone marrow derived DC of tumor bearing mice after immunotherapy was ameliorated. (authors)
