[en] The features of the emergency power supply system of the 10 MW High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTR-10) are briefly introduced, and the reliability of the emergency power supply system of the HTR-10 is calculated using fault-tree analysis method. The calculating results are compared with those obtained using the standard nuclear power plant design method. All the results show that the emergency power supply system of the HTR-10 is not only with high reliability but also quite simple as well as economic

AbstractAbstract
[en] The breakdown performance of helium was studied by Paschen law, com-paring with air. Combined with the operation parameter of generator in gas turbine coupled with high temperature gas-cooled reactor and the Paschen curve of helium, the relationship between pressure and insulating structure was discussed. The key points for the insulation design of the electrical device in helium were presented. The results show that the insulation performance for helium which lowest breakdown potentials is 150-200 V is much worse than that of air. The existing test and inspect guidelines of the insulation structure for the pressure water reactor can't be used for the helium. High permeability for helium may be an important reason to destroy the insulation structure. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A novel bandage ring which is made of composite material and metal material is proposed for high speed generator. The novel bandage ring has a metal lining inside and a composite material reinforcing layer outside. The size of metal lining which is made of titanium in this paper can be machined accurately to meet the assembling requirement, and the composite material layer reinforces the bandage ring because of its low density and high strength. So the novel bandage ring is lighter and stronger than traditional metal bandage rings. Theoretical calculation proves that both carbon fiber/epoxy resin and Apmoc/epoxy resin composite have enough strength when the rotation speed of generator is 18,000 r/min. (authors)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Automatic region detection of the maxillary sinus from human face X-ray pictures is studied and presented. Firstly a new algorithm for transformation from X-ray images to bi-level images is introduced, which is based on the local properties of the images. Secondly, a region detection algorithm is used to determine global shape parameters of the maxillary sinus such as area, perimeter length, and complexity. It is shown that the regions of the maxillary sinus detected by the new algorithm coincide well with clinical diagnosis. It is also shown that the cumulative distribution function calculated from the density histogram of detected regions is a useful parameter for assessing the stage of recovery in chronic sinusitis. [en] The radioisotope thermoelectric generator which is employed in deep space exploration, converts heat from the natural decay of radioisotope materials into electrical power directly. The 238Pu radioisotopic fuel has potentials at decay period, specific thermal power and radiation protection, so it is widely adopted in space application.
