AbstractAbstract
[en] The behaviour of radioactive recoil atoms of niobium, tantalum, hafnium and other elements from nuclear reactions with heavy ions on the cyclotron when stopping in a mixture of Br2 and BBr3 vapours and with continuous transfer to a thermochromatographic nickel column together with the bromating carrier gas was investigated. It was found that niobium and tantalum bromide form sharp adsorption zones in the column at the same place and are separated from hafnium. The time which the niobium atoms need from the target to adsorption in the column is 0.1-0.2 sec. The method is thus suitable for investigating the properties of the nilsbohrium bromide using the known spontaneous fissioning 2-sec isotope of the element 105. (orig./LH)

(orig.)Original Title

AbstractAbstract
[en] The first measurement of the energy dependence of the 7Be(n, p)7Li reaction cross section has been carried out using a non-standard procedure of identification of low energy charged particles with the ionization chamber with two grids. As a result there were obtained the thermal cross section and the energy dependence of investigated reaction cross section in the neutron energy range up to 0.5 keV. It was shown that at neutron energies below 140 eV the cross section followed the 1/v law, where v was the neutron velocity. Two independent series of measurements have revealed a deviation from the 1/v law in the region En ∼ 140-200 eV which might have probably been ascribed to the presence of a narrow resonance on neutrons with orbital momenta different from zero. The question about the resonance responsible for the large (5x104 b) thermal cross section remains still open

AbstractAbstract
[en] Two mutually complementing methods have been developed for analysis of the element composition of matter with the aid of beams of accelerated H, 4He, 3He and 14N ions in the energy range of 2 to 4 MeV. One of the methods is based on measurement of the elastic scattering of these particles at wide angles, while the other is based on measurement of the X rays induced by a proton beam. Both analysis methods are illustrated by X-ray spectra taken durin.o proton bombardment of various materials (Lavsan, targets of resin, crystalline and film-type garnet, etc.). The methods are highly sensitive and rapid, and no sample destruction and misrepresentation of the element composition of multicomponent mixtures are involved

AbstractAbstract
[en] For determining element composition of a matter in the beam of accelerated hydrogen, 3He, 4He and 14N ions in the 2-4 MeV energy range the methods based on elastic scattering and X radiation measurements are employed. The problems of using electrostatic generator for determining silicon, sulphur, titanium, carbon in nuclear targets, lead, gold, vanadium in beryllium, silicon substrates and composition of some alloys by elastic scattering at the 1012 at/cm2 level are considered. The facility for determining element composition of the surface of semiconductors, thin carbon, lavsan and other films with applied to their surface analyzed tests is described
