AbstractAbstract
[en] The coefficient of cyclotron absorption in a finite-density Maxwellian plasma is evaluated both analytically and numerically for temperatures and harmonic numbers for which the effects due to the finiteness of the electron Larmor radius need to be retained to orders higher than the lowest significant one as commonly used. A comparison is made with the results obtained to lowest significant order and an exponential approximation is proposed that provides a good fit for a fairly wide range of temperatures and harmonic numbers. The emphasis of the numerical analysis is on the case of waves propagating perpendicularly to the magnetic field

[en] An effect has been studied of the laser plasma on potential of an insulated conducting target made of aluminium. Targets of 2.4 and 6 cm diameter were used. Spot sizes on the target changed by means of a diaphragm. A change has been found in the charged target potential upon exposure to the high-power TEA CO2 laser radiation. Dependences are presented of the jump in the target potential ΔU on the initial target potential, laser radiation energy density, geometrical size of the exposed region. It has been established that there is an optimal pressure of the ambient air under which ΔU reaches maximum. A dependence is presented of ΔU on the pressure upon target exposure in the air and in nitrogen. Temporal characteristics of the ΔU variation correlate with those of plasma glow in the visible and ultraviolet bands. A mechanism is suggested which explains the potential jump under the interaction between the laser plasma and the charged metallic target

[en] Experiments are reported which were made on a TIR-1 single-beam laser installation which consists of a master oscillator, electrooptic shutter, a system of amplifiers with optical gas filters and a cell for interaction with the target. Results are presented of experimental measurements of energy characteristics of the laser beam and emission pulse shape in different points of the optical scheme. An experimental study has been made of gas absorbing cells intended for suppression of amplifier self-excitation, a dependence is derived of the cell transmittance on the incident radiation energy. An analysis is made of energy parameters and the efficiency is calculated of the arrangement which corresponds to real conditions
