[en] A study on the feasibility of using experience data on the performance of equipment in nonnuclear facilities during earthquakes found that such data would be quite useful, if they were developed, in addressing issues concerning the seismic qualification of equipment in operating nuclear power plants located in the eastern United States. Guidelines and criteria for the use of these data were also developed. Thirty possible issues associated with seismic qualification of equipment were identified and ranked, and the current seismic equipment qualification requirements evaluated against each of these issues.
